Following your narrow escape from the Girl in the underground care facility of Resident Evil Requiem, you will find yourself inside the central hall’s elevator.
As soon as the cutscene concludes, your attention will be drawn to a Severed Hand lying on the ground. You can interact with it, but what significance does it hold in the game?
Exploring the Severed Hand’s Role in Resident Evil Requiem

Once you’ve picked up the Severed Hand, its practical use is quite limited, primarily serving as an item for analysis. Your best chance to utilize it effectively is with the laser microscope located in the Blood Lab in the east wing of the facility.

Interestingly, you can collect the Severed Hand while carrying Emily shortly after the cutscene. It’s advisable to first place Emily on the couch in the Guard Room for her to rest before proceeding to the Blood Lab.

At the laser microscope, the analysis of the Severed Hand introduces you to a mini-game where the objective is to activate all the atoms. You have three moves to complete this challenge. Begin by selecting the two atoms highlighted in red, as depicted in the image above, followed by the atom in the center, highlighted in blue.
Successfully manipulating these selections will solve the Severed Hand puzzle, culminating in the revelation: “Let’s Play.”

Although this phrase seems trivial, it ties back to the desires expressed by the Girl in the preceding cutscenes. Additionally, it leads to a perplexing code: “GGC AAG AUA ACG UGU CAU.”
This sequence actually represents an mRNA strand that encodes a polypeptide. This intriguing mind teaser from Capcom might hint at deeper theories, suggesting that it may relate to the genetic makeup of the “Shadow Ghost” or the Girl herself. Such connections could pave the way for similar encounters in future installments of the Resident Evil franchise.
