Hunter x Hunter Creator Shares Health Progress Updates: Improving “Little by Little”

As the highly awaited return of the Hunter x Hunter manga approaches, creator Yoshihiro Togashi has shared that his health is gradually improving.

Hunter x Hunter, a beloved anime and manga series renowned for its storytelling, originally aired its reboot until 2014, while the manga hit Chapter 400 in 2022. Since then, it has been on an indefinite break due to the creator’s health challenges.

In October 2024, Hunter x Hunter resumed serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump. Currently, Togashi is diligently working on Chapter 422, providing updates through his Twitter/X account.

The manga continues to unfold within the Succession Contest Arc, where Chapter 401 unveils a surprising twist: Longhi is confirmed to be Beyond Netero’s daughter, and she suspects that one of the princes is Beyond’s son.

Each issue of WSJ features notes from various mangakas alongside the chapters. In the author’s note from Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 46, Togashi expressed, “Currently, my back has improved to the extent that I can sit in a chair and write. I am making progress little by little.”

Fans are expressing relief over Togashi’s improved condition, filling social media with excitement. “Thank goodness the man’s back is healing; I hope he can finish the manga and enjoy his well-deserved retirement,” said one follower.

Another fan chimed in, “Oh wow, that’s wonderful to hear. I hope he continues to improve (though the bar is quite low if simply being able to sit in a chair is cause for celebration…).”

“I find Togashi’s determination to continue his projects incredibly inspiring. He truly displays a remarkable spirit,” remarked a third fan.
