Hytale has officially launched in early access, and it is making waves in the gaming community, quickly becoming the most-watched title on Twitch. This surge in viewership is significant, considering the long journey Hytale has taken to reach this point.
After nearly eight years since its initial announcement, the game has finally become accessible to players. The anticipation surrounding its release has led to an explosive start, with Hytale attracting over 420, 000 viewers on Twitch on its debut day, as highlighted by PCGamer.
Hytale’s Early Access Launch: A Noteworthy Achievement
Although viewership numbers decreased to approximately 210, 000 as the day progressed, this level of interest remains impressive—especially considering that Hytale is not yet available on Steam and is not a free-to-play title. The game is currently being accessed via its dedicated launcher.

Hytale currently boasts a viewership count of approximately 210, 000 on Twitch.
For context, Hytale’s viewership numbers are outshining even established titles like Grand Theft Auto V, League of Legends, and ARC Raiders. This reflects the game’s strong appeal and the enthusiasm from fans who have been waiting for its release.
Although the developers indicated that there are no immediate plans to launch on Steam, they have not ruled it out for the future. This means that Hytale could eventually broaden its audience even further.
For those who may not be acquainted with it, Hytale is a sandbox role-playing game that combines elements of block-based building, combat, and exploration, reminiscent of the highly popular Minecraft.
Originally developed by the creators of the well-known Minecraft server Hypixel, the game’s development began in 2015 and gained significant attention over the years. Riot Games acquired Hypixel Studios in 2020, leading to several delays as the game’s scope expanded.
In 2025, Riot Games decided to shut down the studio and cancel the project temporarily. However, the narrative took a dramatic turn when Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme reacquired the intellectual property rights, allowing for the revival and eventual early access release of Hytale.
Currently, Hytale is available exclusively on Windows, but future releases are expected for Linux and macOS. Console versions are also anticipated but will arrive at a later date.
