The highly anticipated early access release of Hytale, a sandbox RPG developed by Hypixel, is set to arrive at a notably low price point, according to director Simon Collins-Laflamme. He stated that charging a higher price for the game in its current state didn’t feel appropriate, especially after its dramatic journey back from the brink of cancellation.
In a recent update shared on X, Collins-Laflamme revealed that following its repurchase from Riot Games, the development team—now comprising around 50 talented developers—has undertaken substantial personal risks to breathe new life into the project. Their efforts reflect a deep commitment to ensure Hytale fulfills its potential.
A Commitment to Quality
During his dialogue, Collins-Laflamme expressed his honesty about the game’s current state, stating, “I don’t think the game is good yet.” He and his team are resolutely focused on enhancing its quality, aiming to elevate the game from its current form to something exceptional. He noted that after acquiring the project back from Riot, the pace of development has significantly increased, guided by a clear vision for the future of Hytale.

On November 21, Hytale’s official X account confirmed that the game will be priced at $19.99, aligning with the team’s goal to keep it accessible to a broad audience. Collins-Laflamme emphasized the importance of affordability, aiming to provide everyone with “a fair chance to be part of what comes next” as Hytale evolves through development.
