Idol Begs SM Entertainment for World Tour Without Pay: ‘I Can’t Do This Alone’

Super Junior Member Sungmin Opens Up About Feeling Unsupported by SM Entertainment in Meeting Fans

On April 20, K-pop stans and ELFs (fandom) showed their support for Super Junior’s Sungmin after he expressed his desire to meet his fans from all over the world.

The idol revealed that he had proposed the idea to SM, and in return, he was willing to forgo payment. He also asked fans to assist him in connecting with concert organizers.

Despite being on a hiatus, Sungmin’s recent revelation about his current situation has left K-pop fans and ELFs feeling heartbroken. The idol recently conducted a live broadcast on his YouTube channel where he candidly discussed the slim possibility of embarking on a solo world tour.

The conversation was initiated by fans who requested for a world tour, to which he expressed a strong desire to fulfill.

Regrettably, he alluded to the limited opportunities he has been presented with and honestly appealed to his fans for assistance in connecting with event organizers.

“I will perform without pay. Just give me a chance. I don’t need a pay. Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, USA, South America, or anywhere I can perform without pay, so just give me a chance.”[translation from @/Nilaksha Rathnasekera]

Despite fans disagreeing and telling him not to perform without payment, Sungmin responded by stating that he would be content with receiving 5 complimentary meals that were valued at $7 each during the event.

Currently under contract with SM Entertainment, Sungmin disclosed that he had requested this opportunity from the label and stressed that he was willing to do it without compensation.

“Just give me a chance to meet my fans. Something like a fan event, as I cannot do it by myself.”

Despite being a member of Super Junior, Sungmin has been unable to participate in group promotions due to his sudden marriage to Kim Saeun in 2014.

Despite being abandoned by Korean ELFs, he decided to take a hiatus from the group and pursue a solo career.

Despite it being a decade, ELFs continue to hold onto hope for his return to Super Junior, especially since he recently renewed his contract with the label.

However, supporters argue that this is the way he would be handled, so it would also be beneficial for him to seek out another record label that will give him the treatment he deserves.

The situation has become even more devastating as Super Junior continues to embark on numerous world tours, while Sungmin is desperately pleading to meet his fans and has even sacrificed his payment for the opportunity.
