In Full Flight, the new heist film starring Kevin Hart and directed by F. Gary Gray, is finally available on Netflix: we explain everything that happens in its outcome.
F. Gary Gray is a multi-faceted director, with films ranging from the cult comedy Friday to the biographical drama of N.W.A – Straight Outta Compton and the Fast & Furious 8 from 2017. As for Kevin Hart, the famous actor has already brought his unique touch to many roles, even in slightly more serious titles like A Great Dad and Reality Face.

The end of In Full Flight provides answers to all its intrigues: the bad guy Lars Jorgensen (Jean Reno) has been arrested, and Abby (Mbatha-Raw) makes amends with Cyrus and his team of robbers after abandoning her post as Interpol agent. Her reason: she learned that her boss Huxley (Worthington) had betrayed her. Thus, the entire team reveals the truth to the former member of Interpol: the 500 million dollars in gold were ultimately diverted to end up in the pockets of the robbers.
And for those who value their romance, yes, Cyrus and Abby end up kissing, which is not surprising after the subplot develops throughout the story. To add yet another positive touch, Cyrus reveals to her friend that she found the thief of the blackboard from the school where her mother worked, aware that this was the reason behind her employment at Interpol in the art section.

At the beginning of In Flight, Cyrus and his team of little geniuses present themselves as Robin Hood, claiming to serve noble causes to protect art from those who do not deserve it. On the other hand, don’t pay too much attention to the yacht and the obvious interest of our saviors in the millions of dollars in their bank account…
The request from Abby’s boss, Huxley, is an opportunity for our heroes to prove their good intentions: they are asked to intercept gold belonging to a guy who is as dangerous as he is sinister. Because the antagonist Jorgensen plans to attack the planet’s water sources to speculate, alongside a group of hackers nicknamed Leviathan.
What damage could Leviathan cause? Imagine all the disasters that are directly or indirectly related to water: floods, droughts, everything is there to make a profit to the detriment of civilians and public services. And to avoid being found by the authorities, payment must be made with gold.
This is Abby’s job: to prevent Jorgensen from paying Leviathan, by diverting the gold transported by air. In exchange for the help of Cyrus and his team, the criminal records of his entire team will simply disappear.
A delicate mission for the burglary In mid-flight
If everything goes well at first, Jorgensen’s henchmen also end up taking action. The situation quickly gets out of hand, the team is divided and the enemies even seem to win the game by forcing the private plane containing the gold to land directly on Jorgensen’s property.
The latter then threatens our heroes with a gun. When he asks the leader of Leviathan to get to work and she refuses, he shoots her in the head. Luckily for Cyrus and Abby, the local police arrive before the big bad comes after them. Trapped by the remaining cameras on the armor of the plane’s body, Jorgensen can no longer defend himself against the police officers who arrest him.
As the army arrives, Abby discovers that her companion Huxley was ready to let her be shot down by NATO jets. She therefore decides to resign and return to Cyrus’ side, who leaves the scene.
The outcome of En Plein vol explained: a heist within a heist
In the final scene, Cyrus and Abby are initially just the two of them in a car. Cyrus then reveals the truth about the heist to him and explains what really happened: he and his team actually stole the gold, right under everyone’s noses.
It turns out that while much of the plan was presented to viewers from the beginning from Abby’s point of view, there was one hidden element that remained: while she and Cyrus dealt with Jorgensen’s henchmen in the first plane, Magnus (Billy Magnussen) performed a sleight of hand, trading the $500 million loot for iron bars. Fake ingots that he had previously painted gold: everything was planned from the start.
Similarly, Luke (Viveik Kalra) has actually hidden his real role. After supposedly withdrawing from the mission, he recovered the dropped loot in mid-air, taking it to a secret location using his drones.
And while everything is revealed to us at the same time as to Abby, the image shows us an angry Huxley: he has indeed just discovered that the army has only recovered a ton of cheap iron instead of half a million dollars in gold.
The very last sequence shows the team coming together to celebrate the reappearance of the gold bars, previously hidden under a lake. Such an ending is clever, especially if F. Gary Gray, Kevin Hart and Netflix decide to give a sequel to the film In Flight.
