Influencer Breaks Ankle Trying ‘Risky’ TikTok Challenge

A content creator has fractured her ankle after engaging in a ‘dangerous’ viral TikTok trend, leaving her in agony.

Emily Webb, an Australian influencer boasting over 172,000 followers on Instagram, was standing in the middle of the street when a car struck her, resulting in a fractured ankle and severe pain.

This incident was triggered by a risky online trend. On TikTok, the ‘trust him trend’ features videos with millions of views showcasing women putting their safety on the line to demonstrate their trust in their male partners.

In these videos, women position themselves in the street while their boyfriends drive towards them—either at full speed or slower—with the expectation that they will brake just in time. The captions often include statements like “safe to say I trust you” or “trust him with my life.”

The single Aussie decided to take part in the trend herself, enlisting a male friend to assist her. In the video shared on her TikTok and Instagram, she can be seen standing confidently in the street.

Her friend was meant to halt in time, as the men in other videos had done. Unfortunately, he didn’t brake quickly enough, resulting in a collision with Emily that left her wincing in pain. “Stop! Go backwards!” she shouted.

The driver hastily reversed, but the damage was already done. For a brief moment, her leg was trapped under the vehicle, causing significant injury from her reckless attempt at the trend, as noted by news.com.au.

According to the report, the content creator is now facing a lengthy recovery period but feels relieved that her self-employment allows her to manage her work schedule during this challenging time.

Reactions from TikTok users regarding the trend have been mixed, with some condemning it as “dangerous,” while others express concerns about their boyfriends potentially “accidentally” hitting them.

This incident is just one among many controversial trends to surface on the platform, alongside ‘chroming,’ the Blackout Challenge, and the ‘sun gazing’ fad.
