In the recently released episode 13, viewers were treated to one of the most thrilling moments from the Final War arc, which is currently being adapted in Season 7 of the My Hero Academia anime.
Despite the concerns of many fans, the speed at which Studio Bones is adapting the manga chapters has led to speculation that season 7 of My Hero Academia may be the last. This is due to the fact that the manga recently concluded, and if season 7 were to be the final season of the anime, it would undoubtedly leave fans of Kohei Horikoshi’s masterpiece devastated.
Fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that season 7 will not mark the end of the My Hero Academia anime, as there is still plenty of source material to cover beyond the conclusion of season 7.
My Hero Academia Expected to End with Abbreviated Season 8
Recently, it was revealed that the upcoming season 7 of My Hero Academia will have a total of 25 episodes and will be split into two cours. However, the first four episodes were a recap of season 6 and were aired in the four weeks leading up to the official release date of May 4, 2024.
In conclusion, while season 7 of the anime began adapting the manga from episode 5, it officially consists of 21 episodes (excluding recaps) and is set to air its official 14th episode on August 24, 2024 (or its 18th episode if recaps are included).
The anime’s seventh season kicked off by covering the Star and Stripe and U.A. Traitor arcs, both of which were included in the first five episodes of the season. The Final War arc, which started in chapter 343 of the manga, was then adapted into the anime from the fifth episode onward.
“The manga chapters 367-369 were adapted into episode 13 of season 7. Studio Bones has been consistently adapting three chapters per episode for season 7.”
Based on the pace set in the previous eight episodes of the anime (official episodes 14-21), it is reasonable to predict that season 7 will conclude around chapters 393-394 of the manga.
If season 7 covers the events of manga chapters 393-394, it would result in a cliffhanger finale that features the intense showdown between Ochako Uraraka and Himiko Toga. This would leave approximately 36-37 chapters to be adapted in the next season.
“Hence, based on all the information considered, it can be inferred that My Hero Academia season 7 is not expected to be the last season of the anime. However, the lack of source material may limit the possibility of a 25-episode continuation.”
It is highly probable that Studio Bones will announce a condensed season 8 of the anime, consisting of approximately 12-13 episodes, in order to conclude both the Final War arc and the Epilogue.
Nevertheless, what makes this scenario intriguing is that it would result in a conclusion mirroring the beginning of the series. As dedicated viewers may recall, the first season of the anime comprised of a total of 13 episodes. Thus, it would be appropriate for the My Hero Academia anime to conclude with the same number of episodes in its final season.
