Raven Software has unveiled an exciting new mode for Warzone named Black Ops Royale, drawing inspiration from the beloved mechanics of Black Ops 4’s Blackout. Officially announced on March 2, this rendition streamlines the gameplay by eliminating loadouts and the Gulag, opting instead for a more straightforward, competitive experience.
Set on the Avalon map, which fans might recognize from Black Ops 7’s Endgame mode, Black Ops Royale features an exhilarating battle royale environment where 100 players compete to be the last survivor. While it does carry elements reminiscent of Blackout, it is not a direct remake, offering its unique spin on the genre.
In contrast to the traditional Warzone experience, which allows players to call in custom loadouts equipped with preferred attachments, Black Ops Royale strips this away, introducing only ground loot. Players will start the game equipped solely with a Wingsuit and a basic Pistol, compelling them to scavenge around the map for weapons from the BO7 arsenal that could provide the upper hand against opponents.
The weapons found in this mode come in various rarities, each upgrade enhancing their power and capabilities. Although players cannot loot individual attachments, they can enhance their firearms using Attachment Kits scattered throughout Avalon, leading to improved components like barrels, optics, and various stat boosts.
Key Changes in Black Ops Royale: No Loadouts or Gulag
Notably, the iconic Gulag mechanic from previous Warzone editions is absent in Black Ops Royale. However, players will still have opportunities to re-enter the game following elimination. By collecting Redeploy Tokens, eliminated players can be automatically reinserted into the match, ensuring continuous action and engagement.
Additionally, teammates can assist in bringing back fallen squad members by utilizing Redeployment Towers. However, activating these towers requires that one or more team members remain within a designated capture zone until it’s fully secured. This innovative mechanic not only facilitates team strategies but also means competition with rival squads can lead to intense firefights, adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement.
Furthermore, the developers have announced several notable differences from classic Warzone gameplay, including the removal of in-game cash, steering players away from the previous financial strategies that defined the original format.

As the gameplay evolves, Black Ops Royale is set to introduce a refreshing take on the battle royale formula, emphasizing scavenging and teamwork while stripping away some of the more common mechanics. Players can anticipate a unique tactical experience that encourages adaptability in fast-paced encounters.
