IU Reveals She Preserved the Flower Gifted by Nayeon for Months

Recently, TWICE wrapped up an extensive world tour spanning over one year and three months. When leader Jihyo was asked to share her feelings about the tour’s conclusion, she expressed, “Performing at such prestigious venues was incredible, but after such a long journey, I experience a mixture of liberation and an unexpected void, especially now that we are no longer traveling internationally.”

A Memorable First Encounter

Diving into memories, IU asked her guests, “Does anyone recall our first meeting?” Nayeon responded with excitement, “I definitely remember!” She fondly recounted the experience from their first year-end awards ceremony, stating, “While in the makeup room, I spotted IU sunbaenim washing her hands. I’ll never forget her stunning purple velvet outfit that revealed her shoulders; it was a surreal moment.”

Nayeon shared her anticipation during these early days, “I often thought that once I debuted, I’d finally have the chance to meet IU sunbaenim. Seeing her that day was an unforgettable experience.”

A Gift of Kindness

IU also reminisced about the touching moment when Nayeon presented her with a sunflower. “As I was heading to accept an award at the Gaon Music Awards, Nayeon handed me a sunflower as if it had been exquisitely planned. Initially, I thought it was a customary gesture for award recipients,” she chuckled. Nayeon reflected on her bravery during that moment, with other TWICE members agreeing that it was indeed a courageous act, particularly given her shy nature.

Expressing her gratitude, IU shared, “I was deeply moved and kept the flower for several months. I will always cherish how TWICE enthusiastically applauded whenever I received an award and how they guided me backstage, saying, ‘This way.’” She also extended her thanks to TWICE for their participation as guest performers at her concert.
