Jake Paul, the polarizing figure in combat sports, recently disclosed that a renowned boxing champion has expressed interest in facing him inside the cage for a potential MMA showdown; however, this fight might be some way off.
With many of Jake Paul’s boxing victories accrued against former MMA fighters, it’s hardly surprising that he is eager to explore the realm of mixed martial arts. In 2023, the ‘Problem Child’ signed a multi-year contract with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), yet he has yet to make his much-anticipated debut in the cage. Initially, a victory over boxing legend Mike Tyson was expected to pivot his focus toward MMA, but instead, Jake is slated to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.on June 28.
Although Jake continues to prioritze boxing, he remains vocal about his intentions to transition into MMA, a topic he often revisits during interviews leading up to his fights.
Discussions of an MMA Bout with Oleksandr Usyk
During his pre-fight press conference on May 14, Jake revealed that Nate Diaz has been avoiding a bout with him, but excitingly mentioned the possibility of facing heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk.“I want to be like Holly (Holm) and test my skills in the cage, ” Jake stated in an interview with FightHype.“I’m very interested in this fight, and I believe it could be a massive event, but we need to identify the right opponent.”
His manager, Nakisa Bidarian, promptly threw Usyk’s name into the conversation.“Usyk has called out Jake multiple times regarding MMA, ” Jake added.“They’ve been communicating with us behind the scenes, expressing a desire for this fight in 2026. It is definitely something we aim to pursue.”

Jake also mentioned Tommy Fury as a potential rival, noting that Fury remains the only fighter to have bested him. The two have previously entertained the idea of a rematch, whether in boxing or MMA, but so far, these discussions have not culminated in an actual bout.
A potential clash with Usyk would certainly capture the attention of combat sports fans worldwide. Although Usyk, who is currently 38, holds the coveted heavyweight title and is set to fight ‘Dynamite’ Daniel Dubois in a rematch on July 19, the prospect of an encounter with Jake Paul adds an intriguing twist to the heavyweight scene.
