Resonating with the ‘Uncertain Youth’

Reflecting on her performance, Jeon So-nee stated, “While filming this project, I deeply resonated with the ‘uncertain youth’ portrayed in ‘Melo Movie.’ I experience a sense of ambivalence as well. At times, I take pride in how far I’ve come, while at other moments, I question my abilities. It may seem foolish to have such conflicting emotions, but acting remains my passion. I’ve learned that emotions ebb and flow, but they ultimately pass.”

Evolving Perspective on Acting

She elaborated on how her views on acting have matured: “Previously, I believed that relying too heavily on my own personality while acting was a sign of laziness. Therefore, I intentionally kept my personal self at a distance from my roles. However, in this project, I encountered a character that felt grounded in reality. This experience encouraged me to be more open and authentic in my performance, which was immensely gratifying.”

A Special Relationship with Song Hye-kyo

Discussing her strong bond with Song Hye-kyo, Jeon So-nee mentioned that they have yet to exchange thoughts about “Melo Movie” since “Dark Nuns” is still currently in theaters. However, she praised Song Hye-kyo’s performance, stating, “We haven’t discussed ‘Melo Movie’ yet, but I did rave about ‘Dark Nuns’ after watching it. She looks absolutely angelic.”

When questioned about seeking acting advice from Song Hye-kyo, Jeon So-nee clarified, “I often ask my seniors about acting, but I prefer to do it on set. Since I don’t always grasp the entire context of a situation, I approach these discussions with caution outside of work.” She added, “To me, Hye-kyo unnie is not just a senior actress but a role model. Each moment spent with her is an invaluable lesson.”
