JerryRigEverything YouTuber Claims Switch 2 is “Nearly Indestructible”

Tech enthusiast JerryRigEverything has recently put the Nintendo Switch 2 to the test, declaring it “basically invincible” after conducting a detailed examination of its durability and screen resilience.

Launched on June 5, 2025, the Switch 2 comes with a cautionary note from Nintendo regarding its screen. The company introduced an “anti-scattering adhesive film” designed to shield users from potential glass shards that could result from incidents involving the device.

In a bold move, Jerry decided to remove this protective film to observe its effects, with surprising outcomes following his tests.

Durability Test: JerryRigEverything’s Bold Experiment

After peeling off the plastic layer and dismantling the Joy-Cons, Jerry set out to actively challenge Nintendo’s warnings. Armed with a robust pair of pliers, he proceeded to strike the Switch 2 screen repetitively.

The results were astounding; despite more than a dozen strikes, the screen held up remarkably well.“If this doesn’t boost your confidence in the Switch 2’s durability, I don’t know what will, ” he remarked, continuing to test the screen until it ultimately cracked.

“It took almost 50 strikes with my oversized pliers before we discovered that a thin layer of glass was indeed present on the surface, ” he noted.“In slow motion, you can see that Nintendo was correct; without the protective top layer, the glass shatters into sharp, needle-like fragments.

He stressed the importance of the protective layer, highlighting that while most of the glass remained affixed to the LCD, dangerous shards could potentially harm young users.“I’m thankful for that protective layer, and it’s clear that removing it should be avoided, ” he added.

In summary, Jerry observed that although the Switch 2 halted for a brief moment during testing, a simple reset restored its functionality, further leading him to the conclusion that the console is virtually indestructible.
