As detailed in an official blog post, the inaugural session of Fortnite Dev Sundays was held on April 5, 2026, under the leadership of Chris, who is affectionately referred to as “Tofu Chris” by the Fortnite community.
This event operates within a six-hour timeframe, featuring player groups that rotate every 30 minutes. This structure is designed to accommodate as many participants as possible on a first-come, first-served basis. Interestingly, the first session was extended to an impressive nine hours, as noted by Chris himself.

Dev Sundays are specifically designed for a casual gaming experience, featuring a variety of modes such as Battle Royale, Reload, Fortnite OG Season 8, and Blitz. Players can also select between Build and Zero Build queues, alongside Ranked and Unranked options. In a delightful twist for fans of the Fortnite Festival mode, developers plan to “drop some jams”during the Main Stage mode.
The ongoing sessions are currently hosted on the NA-East servers, but players globally are invited to join. However, Epic Games has cautioned that participants from distant locations may face increased latency.
If you missed the chance to attend the first event, there’s no need to worry. Chris has reassured players, indicating that more sessions of Fortnite Dev Sundays will be scheduled, stating, “Not online today? This isn’t the last time! Keep your eyes peeled for future sessions across various time zones and languages.”
In light of recent staffing changes at Epic Games, the introduction of Dev Sundays arrives at a crucial moment. This initiative not only strengthens direct player engagement but also provides developers with invaluable, immediate feedback on aspects such as the mechanics introduced in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, allowing for ongoing enhancements throughout the season.
