Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261: Further Confusion Surrounding Yuta and Gojo’s Origins and Relationship

In chapter 261 of Jujutsu Kaisen, a significant and unexpected revelation was made: Yuta Okkotsu was revealed to be the one controlling Satoru Gojo’s body. This revelation surprised and caused a stir among fans on social media, but it also left some fans confused about another aspect of the chapter.

During a flashback scene featuring Gojo and Yuta, the latter is shown questioning the former about the confusion surrounding his ancestry. This confusion arose during Yuta’s encounter with Takako Uro in the Culling Game arc. Despite Yuta’s inquiry, Gojo was unable to give a definitive answer, resulting in further uncertainty about their origins and connection.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261: The Mystery of Yuta and Gojo’s Origins

Towards the conclusion of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel film, Satoru Gojo revealed to Yuta Okkotsu that he was a direct descendant of Michizane Sugawara. This familial link established Yuta as a distant relative of Gojo, as Sugawara also has ties to the Gojo clan.

Despite Yuta and Gojo being related to each other, this fact often leads to skepticism among the fanbase and certain characters within the series. This is due to the stark differences in their personalities and values.

Despite this, there were doubts about Yuta’s relationship with Gojo during his fight against Takako Uro in the Culling Game arc. Uro referred to him as a member of the “Fujiwara”clan, suggesting that Yuta may have some connection to them. It was later revealed that Uro had been a member of the Fujiwara clan’s assassination team during the Heian era.

Despite the well-known animosity between the Sugawara and Fujiwara clans in the series, it was ironic that Yuta was referred to as a member of the latter. This was surprising to Uro, as it seemed unlikely that Gojo would have made such a mistake while looking into Yuta’s background.

Ever since, fans have eagerly anticipated a conversation between Yuta and Gojo to address his lineage and clear up any confusion surrounding his origins.

Despite the events of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261, confusion still lingered among fans as Gojo did not directly address Yuta’s doubts. In a flashback, Yuta reveals to Gojo his plan to take over his body if he loses to Sukuna, and he questions his identity as a Sugawara.

Yuta brought up their initial discussion about his ancestry with Gojo, during which Gojo had revealed their distant relationship. However, Yuta also shared that Takako Uro had told him he could potentially be a Fujiwara.

Gojo assured Yuta by confirming that he was, indeed, a Sugawara and reiterated their distant familial connection. This led Yuta to question if Uro was simply mistaken and had confused him for a descendant of the Fujiwara family instead.

Gojo adds to the confusion by suggesting that both he and Uro may be correct, insinuating that Yuta may have descended from both clans. He goes on to say that Yuta may have been born with even more blessings than the former, and it would be a shame if he didn’t utilize his ancestry to his advantage.

Given that Gojo was unable to give a clear response to Yuta’s inquiry about his lineage, it can be inferred that he may not have much knowledge about the matter.

Despite the current state of the manga, it is uncertain if Gege Akutami will delve deeper into this specific topic. However, fans can still hold onto hope that he will not leave out such a significant aspect of Yuta’s character.
