The epic showdown between Sukuna and the jujutsu sorcerers reaches its conclusion in Chapter 267 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
In Chapter 267, Yuji’s victory over Sukuna marks a significant milestone in the journey towards the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen. This moment has been highly anticipated since Chapter 264, when the protagonist successfully imprisoned the King of Curses within his own domain.
The defeat of Sukuna was a result of a collective effort from multiple characters. Gojo, the ancient sorcerer, engaged in numerous battles against formidable foes and was responsible for the demise of several major characters, including fan favorites such as Gojo and Choso.
Despite Gojo’s passing, it seemed that Sukuna’s defeat was still out of reach for a considerable amount of time. Nonetheless, Chapter 267 uncovers that there had been a plan in place to counter his destructive actions from the start. The sorcerers were well aware of the consequences if Gojo were to fail, and thus, had prepared multiple backup strategies. One of these involved Yuta’s Gojo transformation, which may have surprised readers but ultimately had little impact.
The most beneficial strategy is unveiled in the latest chapter. Chapter 267 features Gojo and Yuta devising a plan that involves using soul-swapping. Their plan not only involves Yuta consuming Yuji’s finger to acquire Shrine, but also concealing Sukuna’s final finger as their ultimate tactic.
Despite the last finger still being concealed, they were able to retrieve Nobara, who had been presumed dead for a significant amount of time. Yuji’s use of her Resonance gave him the advantage in the battle and allowed him to defeat Sukuna with Black Flash, ultimately putting an end to the tyrannical rule of the King of Curses.
Chapter 267 concludes with the editor’s statement declaring the end to a lengthy conflict. This solidifies the fact that the fight against Sukuna has finally come to an end, and the Shinjuku Showdown Arc is drawing to a close.
This means that the final four chapters, starting from Chapter 271, will serve as the epilogue for Jujutsu Kaisen before the manga concludes on September 30, 2024. However, readers can still catch the official release of the next chapter on August 25.
