Despite previously feeling disillusioned, the fanbase of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga series by author and illustrator Gege Akutami has been rejuvenated after the latest release. This is most likely a result of the protagonist Yuji Itadori’s powerful Black Flash attack on Ryomen Sukuna in the last issue, as well as the promise of more exciting developments from the narrator.
It is widely believed among fans that the appearance of Black Flash in Yuji signals the beginning of the final act of Jujutsu Kaisen’s supposed last major arc before the series ends. Additionally, there is speculation that Yuji’s Black Flash will be crucial in overcoming Sukuna and unlocking a powerful ability that could ultimately defeat him.

Yuji Masters the Black Flash in Jujutsu Kaisen
The conviction among Jujutsu Kaisen fans that the Black Flash will play a crucial part in Sukuna’s downfall is supported by the events in chapter 256. Through a subtle mention in the Satoru Gojo flashback, it is highlighted that Itadori will eventually surpass him in the number of Black Flashes. Interestingly, the chapter concludes by stating that Yuji’s recent Black Flash has sparked his awakening.
It has been noted that although no sorcerer has complete control over Black Flash, Yuji’s exceptional combat abilities have given the impression that he can use it at will. Furthermore, with the amount of preparation that went into Yuji surpassing Kento Nanami’s record of four consecutive Black Flashes, it is highly probable that he will be able to land four more on Sukuna in the upcoming weeks.
Despite Sukuna’s recent resurgence in the battle and the confirmation of his healing abilities, he continues to struggle due to Maki’s previous attack on him. This interference is hindering both his Reverse Cursed Technique and the healing of his body, despite Yuji’s recent use of the Black Flash.
It is also likely that Sukuna, due to his reduced speed, is redirecting his Cursed Energy to other tasks, possibly in preparation for unleashing Fuga on Yuji and his companions. This is supported by the fact that, despite not being able to use the Black Flash, Yuji’s continuous attacks on Sukuna hinder his control over Megumi’s body and diminish the output of his Cursed Energy.
The manga series Jujutsu Kaisen has demonstrated that sorcerers can become incredibly powerful after undergoing an “awakening.” This was illustrated through Gojo’s development of the Reverse Cursed Technique and the Hollow Purple, which occurred following his defeat by Toji Fushiguro. As Yuji is currently going through his own awakening, it is expected that he will also unlock his Domain Expansion by discovering the true nature of his soul.
The effects of this awakening have been demonstrated through Mahito, who was able to tap into new powers and transform into a new form with the assistance of Yuji’s Black Flashes, ultimately guiding him towards a deeper understanding of his inner self. In Chapter 257, it was also mentioned that Sukuna sensed Yuji preparing to execute a Black Flash, similar to Mahito’s actions during the Shibuya Incident arc. As a Domain is closely intertwined with one’s soul, this is likely to lead Yuji to uncovering his own Domain.
In chapter 214, it appears that Yuji is being prepared to fulfill his commitment of making Sukuna consume all of his suffering. This is evident in his awakening of both his Cursed Technique and Domain Expansion, which will allow him to freely use Black Flash. This will not only aid in defeating Sukuna, but it will also symbolize Yuji’s unwavering determination, as referred to by Sukuna as his “unbreakable ideal.”
