Despite a one-week hiatus, spoilers for chapter 262 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga have been leaked online. The release of these spoilers coincides with the announcement that the manga will be taking another two-week break due to the mangaka, Gege Akutami, experiencing health issues.
The spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 262 came as a surprise to fans, as the chapter was only seven pages long compared to the usual 17–19 pages. It was later revealed that the next chapter of the manga would be delayed for two weeks due to Akutami’s undisclosed illness.
Gege Akutami’s Health Issues Lead to Two-Week Hiatus for Jujutsu Kaisen Manga
After widespread confusion over the supposed 7-page length of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 262, which was fueled by alleged spoilers circulating on social media, an official statement was released addressing Gege Akutami’s health. It was disclosed that Akutami was facing health problems, leading to a temporary hiatus of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga for two weeks.
Following the announcement, various Jujutsu Kaisen spoiler accounts on social media claimed that the leaks for the upcoming chapter 263 would be released on June 27, 2024.
Despite having waited a whole week for chapter 261, fans of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga were disappointed with the length of chapter 262. This led to many expressing their frustration and disappointment with Akutami for delivering a short chapter after the one-week break.
Despite this, it is important to consider that Akutami had an immense workload in the previous week. Alongside completing chapter 262, he was also responsible for creating a cover for the Weekly Shonen Jump issue featuring Yuji Itadori, a double-colored page featuring Yuta Okkotsu and Ryomen Sukuna, and a cover for Volume 27 of the manga featuring Fumihiko Takaba.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first instance in which Akutami has had to take a hiatus due to health concerns. His editors have been recommending that he take more frequent breaks to prevent becoming overwhelmed by his workload.
It is unquestionably true that a mangaka’s well-being is of greater significance than their manga. The intense pressure of producing a weekly chapter often leads to mangakas abandoning their work, resulting in many beloved titles being left unfinished.
Many fans are currently extending their best wishes to Akutami and wishing for his speedy recovery.
