Jujutsu Kaisen: The Importance of Listening to Your Elders

Ever since the first episode, the development of the story of Jujutsu Kaisen has been remarkable. Initially, Yuji Itadori, a regular high school student, was abruptly introduced to the harsh and ruthless universe of Jujutsu sorcery. Currently, Yuji is engaged in a perilous fight for his life against the formidable Ryomen Sukuna, also known as the King of Curses.

Although Yuji’s remarkable journey throughout the series is undeniable, it becomes even more intriguing to imagine how drastically the story could have been altered if his grandfather, Wasuke Itadori, had revealed his origins and family’s history to him before his death.

Exploring the Impact of Wasuke Itadori’s Truth on Jujutsu Kaisen

In the debut episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, Yuji Itadori was introduced as a regular high school student with exceptional physical abilities. It was disclosed that he was an orphan and his sole known family member at the time was his grandfather, Wasuke Itadori.

Despite Wasuke’s attempts to reveal the truth about Yuji’s parents before his untimely passing in the first episode, he was interrupted by the latter who showed no interest in learning about them.

Despite the initial lack of attention from viewers, it has become evident that the impact of Wasuke’s revelation on the story would have been significant if he had successfully told Yuji the truth about his parents.

In the 143rd chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, readers were shocked to learn that Yuji was actually connected to Kenjaku, a sorcerer who had inhabited Kaori Itadori’s deceased body in order to conceive Yuji. As a result, Yuji was revealed to be Choso’s half-brother, as Choso was also one of Kenjaku’s numerous descendants.

In addition, new information about Yuji’s past continued to come to light. The latest Jujutsu Kaisen chapter, 257, disclosed that Yuji was actually the son of Sukuna’s twin brother, Jin Itadori, who had been reincarnated. This meant that Yuji was technically the nephew of the King of Curses.

Upon considering all of these astonishing revelations, fans are revisiting the moment when Wasuke attempted to reveal the truth about Yuji’s parents. While Wasuke may not have been aware of Jin’s ties to Ryomen Sukuna, it is possible that he knew about Kenjaku’s possession of Kaori’s body.

In chapter 143 of the manga, Wasuke was attempting to caution his son about Kaori, advising him to steer clear of her or risk death. However, before he could elaborate, their conversation was interrupted by Kaori, who shockingly displayed stitch marks on her forehead, revealing that Kenjaku had taken over her deceased body and used it to bear a child with Jin at some point.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Wasuke’s knowledge of Kenjaku, it can be assumed that he had some understanding of the latter’s malicious intentions. However, as he ultimately stopped trying to reveal the truth about Yuji’s parents after being dismissed by Yuji, it is possible that Wasuke was not aware of Kenjaku’s identity and the potential consequences of their complicated family history for Yuji in the future.

In retrospect, had Yuji taken just a single minute to hear his grandfather out, the series would have undoubtedly taken a completely different path. It could be argued that the current events within the story would not have unfolded at all.

If Wasuke had been able to inform Yuji about his family’s history in time, the latter would have been better equipped to handle the events of the story. Knowing about Kenjaku’s existence may have also aided the Jujutsu sorcerers in preventing the Shibuya arc from occurring.

Despite initially dismissing the truth about his family as nonsensical and fabricated, Yuji may have come to believe his grandfather’s words after meeting Megumi. This would have prompted him to inform others about the existence of Kenjaku, ultimately preventing numerous casualties and tragedies.

However, this would certainly create an intriguing ‘What-If’ scenario, where Yuji would be knowledgeable about his family’s troubling past.
