Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending: A Disappointing Conclusion

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending: A Disappointing Conclusion

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is a widely acclaimed shonen manga that takes place in a universe where negative emotions accumulate and manifest into cursed spirits. These malevolent creatures pose a constant threat to the safety of humans, leading Jujutsu sorcerers to bravely confront them at the risk of their own lives.

Despite the ongoing battle against curses, they will persist as long as humans do. The series first premiered in 2018 and is set to conclude on September 30, 2024 with the release of Chapter 271.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Fight with Sukuna Dragged On Longer Than Necessary

Despite the Shinjuku Showdown Arc being centered around intense battles between the strongest fighters, the main concern was that the fight lasted for over a year without any significant progression in the story. While the battle was ongoing, small snippets of the overall story were revealed.

JJK is classified as a battle shonen, which places a strong emphasis on fight scenes. However, at a certain point, the focus shifted to introducing new characters who would join the battle, putting their lives on the line to fight against the villain, only to have the villain find a way to retaliate.

Instead of taking the opportunity to delve into Sukuna’s past, the time was spent showcasing various battle strategies. The sorcerers had multiple contingency plans in place to secure Sukuna’s defeat. Yuta Okkotsu played a crucial role in both the planning and execution of these strategies.

Despite the fact that the manga sidelined numerous plot lines that could have been expanded upon, Sukuna, the King of Curses, has been enduring the gauntlet since the beginning of the arc. Despite sustaining injuries during the lengthy battle, the fight continued until the final announcement was made.

As of August 26, 2024, Jujutsu Kaisen currently has 267 Chapters and is projected to conclude with Chapter 271. However, fans are concerned that the remaining four chapters will not be enough to fully cover Sukuna’s defeat, the trio’s return, and other unresolved plot points.

Kenjaku’s Conclusion: The Worst Part of the Story

Kenjaku was the mastermind behind the entire story, having spent over 1000 years devising his plan. In a surprising turn of events, Gege opts for a humorous “comedy performance”instead of a traditional battle, ultimately leading to Yuta’s successful defeat of Kenjaku.

Despite Kenjaku being fooled, the series does not delve into his background or the merger he was planning. The details of the merger, including its form, may remain unanswered at this point.

Despite his final moments approaching, he declares that his legacy will continue. He entrusts the task of merging with Sukuna. Additionally, Kenjaku possessed numerous mysterious cursed techniques, and his backstory would have greatly enhanced his significance in the narrative. Furthermore, he shared a bond with Master Tengen, which the manga deliberately leaves open to interpretation by readers.

Fans will never see a full Hakari vs Uraume fight

Although we may catch glimpses of the battle, Jujutsu Kaisen does not have enough remaining chapters to fully showcase the fight. The manga briefly showcases the fight before moving on to the showdown against the strongest opponent.

Gojo believes that Hakari has the ability to surpass him, as stated by Gojo himself. Hakari first appeared in the Culling Game Arc and won over many fans during his intense battle with Kashimo.

Despite Gojo’s death, Uraume attempts to ally with Sukuna. However, they are stopped by Hakari and their true abilities remain a mystery. Despite their ongoing battle, neither has emerged as the victor after several months. While the sorcerers focus on fighting Sukuna, Hakari remains occupied with holding off the other ancient curse user.

Therefore, it is highly unlikely that Jujutsu Kaisen will be able to show the entire fight before it ends. Fans had high expectations of seeing Hakari defeat Uraume and join forces with the others to fight Sukuna. However, as Sukuna is nearing his defeat, Hakari’s involvement in the battle is no longer necessary.

Jujutsu Kaisen Will Still Be an Epic Story

Despite the mixed reactions from the community, Nobara Kugisaki’s comeback to the manga is causing quite a stir. In the final confrontation against Sukuna, she makes a decisive move that leads many to speculate about Sukuna’s ultimate fate in Chapter 268.

Therefore, in order to properly conclude the story, the manga must address the return of Nobara and Megumi, the current status of Uro, and the situation with Yuta before the ending. However, with only five chapters remaining, there may not be enough time to fully develop all of these important plot points, causing the manga to potentially rush through them.

Despite the rushed ending, Jujutsu Kaisen will forever be regarded as one of the top new-generation manga, with its immense popularity only further solidified by the 2020 anime adaptation.

The anime boasts exceptional characters, thrilling fight scenes, and mind-blowing plot twists. The Shibuya Incident Arc is just the beginning as the story delves further into the intense Culling Games Arc, which will be featured in Season 3 of the show.

Not providing explanations for everything in the story allows for spin-offs or prequels/sequels to be created. There may never be a complete explanation for characters like Jin Itadori, the Gojo Clan, and other elements. The Heian flashback, while it could have been epic, is limited by the few chapters devoted to it.

The tale commences with Sukuna’s manifestation and concludes with his downfall. During Chapter 267, Yuji proclaims that the eradication of Sukuna will mark the end of the cycle of curses, a much-needed resolution for the world.
