On Thursday, May 23, 2024, unofficial leaks of the upcoming installment in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga series revealed spoilers. Fans were especially thrilled about the chapter 261 spoilers, as the previous official release hinted at the return of Satoru Gojo in its final panels.
The latest Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers revealed that Gojo’s body had been taken over by the brain and soul of Yuta Okkotsu. This was made possible as Yuta had acquired Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique through Rika after killing him, allowing him to transfer into Gojo’s body when his own was close to death. This confirmed the previous setup and added an exciting twist to the story.
Additionally, numerous fans are speculating that Yuta, currently inhabiting Gojo’s body, will ultimately be the one to vanquish Sukuna. This theory is widely accepted due to Gojo having imparted the knowledge of how to defeat Sukuna through the use of his Limitless and Six Eyes techniques. However, there is a crucial aspect of this strategy that Yuta may not have access to, as it was originally awakened by Gojo himself.
Is Yuta the savior of Jujutsu Kaisen or is he doomed without the Hollow Purple?
During the events leading up to Gojo’s death in Jujutsu Kaisen, it became apparent that the Hollow Purple technique was the only Cursed Technique in Gojo’s arsenal that could effectively defeat Sukuna. This was further exemplified at the beginning of their battle, when Gojo unleashed a 200% Hollow Purple attack from Shibuya and caught Sukuna off guard in Shinjuku.
It is evident that the Hollow Purple played a crucial role in Gojo’s near defeat of Sukuna, putting the King of Curses on the brink of death. In other words, the Hollow Purple appears to be an essential technique for defeating Sukuna and should be used in conjunction with Gojo’s other techniques rather than replaced by them.
The series Jujutsu Kaisen has demonstrated that simply being a member of the Gojo clan and possessing both the Limitless and Six Eyes abilities is not sufficient for utilizing Purple, or the Red Cursed Technique Reversal that it derives from. Similarly, Gojo had to go through a close brush with death in his own body to gain a complete understanding of Red and how to combine it with the Blue Cursed Technique in order to create the powerful Hollow Purple.
Despite not having the privilege of learning through a near-death experience like Yuta, he is already running out of time and Sukuna is unlikely to spare his life for entertainment. If Yuta is also unable to utilize the Hollow Purple upon entering Gojo’s body, his attempts may be futile as he will have no means to defeat Sukuna.
Although the newest Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers indicate that Yuta plans to use Gojo’s Unlimited Void Domain Expansion to confront Sukuna in a battle of domains, it is important to mention that Gojo himself resorted to the Hollow Purple in a similar situation. This tactic is aimed at forcing Sukuna to destroy himself from within by manipulating his own brain.
Hence, it is crucial to utilize both the Hollow Purple and the rest of Gojo’s techniques in tandem in order to have a chance at defeating Sukuna. This is particularly important since Sukuna is well aware of the roadmap that Yuta will be following, as he played a role in its creation. While it is unclear what Yuta’s next steps will be, solely relying on the Unlimited Void Domain Expansion from the beginning may not bode well.
