Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sukuna kills Yuji theory could give an iconic Mahito moment even more meaning

Recently, a leaked version of chapter 263 of Jujutsu Kaisen revealed the ongoing battle between the sorcerers and Ryomen Sukuna. Despite being greatly outnumbered, Sukuna remains standing, fueling the long-standing theory that he will eventually kill the series’ protagonist, Yuji Itadori. This twist would connect Yuji to another major antagonist, Mahito, in a way that may surprise many.

The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom came up with a theory some time ago, proposing that Yuji will meet his demise at the hands of Sukuna and then return as a Curse due to his anguish and sorrow over his inability to safeguard his loved ones. This theory also suggests that he might transform into the embodiment of human hatred, giving a literal interpretation to the “I’m you”moment with Mahito in the Shibuya Incident arc.

Please note: This article includes spoilers for the series.

Explaining the Transformation of Yuji into Mahito during his Fight with Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen

According to a popular theory among fans, Ryomen Sukuna will ultimately defeat Yuji Itadori in their final battle, causing the latter to transform into a Curse and continue fighting. This scenario depicts Yuji’s intense frustration and rage at being unable to save and defend others, resulting in him becoming a manifestation of human hatred, similar to Mahito.

This would also add a literal aspect to the “I’m you, Mahito”moment in the Shibuya Incident arc, as it implies that the character will ultimately become the very thing he despised. As an incredibly strong Curse, he will now be responsible for dealing with a weakened Sukuna, a development that has already been demonstrated in the last thirty chapters of the manga.

According to the theory, Yuji will maintain control of himself and will exorcise himself after defeating Sukuna. This will allow him to fulfill his vow of continuously destroying Curses and ultimately experience a dignified death.

Possible Developments in Future Chapters

The latest installment of Jujutsu Kaisen featured an intense showdown between Yuta, Yuji, and Todo as they confronted Sukuna in various forms, leaving the King of Curses struggling. The chapter ended on a major cliffhanger, with the reappearance of Hana Kurusu, also known as Angel, and her powerful ability of Jacob’s Ladder seemingly capable of completely defeating Sukuna.

Despite Hana Kurusu’s return, it is highly probable that Sukuna will either survive the attack or evade it in some way. This has been a recurring issue throughout the final arc, as the King of Curses seems to always manage to survive. Therefore, it will be intriguing to see how author Gege Akutami handles this situation.

Concluding Remarks

Despite the possibility of Yuji becoming a Curse in Jujutsu Kaisen, it would be a compelling and ironic twist to witness his words to Mahito in Shibuya come to fruition. However, at this point, this remains mere fan speculation, as there is no evidence in the story to support this notion.
