Jung Hae-in Remains Silent on Romance Rumors with Jung So-min After Their Unmatched On-Screen Chemistry in “Love Next Door”

On the morning of September 11th, an interview with Jung Hae-in regarding his film “I, The Executioner” (“Veteran 2”) directed by Ryu Seung-wan took place at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

“Veteran 2” is an action crime investigation movie that chronicles the journey of veteran detective Seo Do-cheol (played by Hwang Jung-min) from the Serious Crimes Investigation Unit as he hunts down a notorious serial killer, with rookie detective Park Sun-woo (played by Jung Hae-in) joining the mission.

Jung Hae-in takes on the character of Park Sun-woo, the latest addition to the Serious Crimes Investigation Unit. He previously captivated viewers in the series “D.P.” and the film “Spring of Seoul” while donning military attire, and now, he continues to make a mark in “Veteran 2” sporting a police uniform.

He remarked, “I have received a lot of love playing roles with ‘government jobs,’” and expressed his concern, stating, “I think people have a certain image of me. However, I worry that this perception might change with this new role.”

Currently appearing in tvN’s “Love Next Door,” Jung Hae-in noted, “It feels like it has been a long time since I have portrayed a lighthearted character. I think it is the first time since 2019.”

He added, “Even I was happy to be laughing on set. The drama is progressing toward its climax, and there will be plenty of scenes that viewers are eagerly waiting for. There will be so many that you might even think, ‘Please, no more!’ so I hope you are looking forward to it.”

When asked about his chemistry with co-star Jung So-min in “Love Next Door,” Jung Hae-in explained, “So-min and I are only one year apart, and our characters are childhood friends. We knew we had to be comfortable with each other; otherwise, it would come off as awkward.”

He continued, “Both So-min and I are introverts, but once introverts become close, they have that childhood friend vibe. We started playing pranks on each other. I usually do not joke around much, but she was good at receiving my jokes, which made me more comfortable. In previous projects, I felt like I had to be mature and hold the center, but on “Love Next Door,” So-min took on a leadership role on set, allowing me to relax and have fun.”

When asked about fans hoping for a real-life couple scenario between them, Jung Hae-in smiled and said, “No comment,” but added, “Our chemistry on set was incredible, really unprecedented.”

He also mentioned, “The entire cast of “Love Next Door” said they are coming to the premiere of “Veteran 2.” I’m so grateful, but also a bit nervous.”

Meanwhile, “Veteran 2,” featuring Jung Hae-in, is set to premiere on the 13th of this month.
