On September 22nd, solo artist Jung Jinhyeong, now known as JEY, captured public interest with his announcement of his marriage to Japanese model and actress Mayu Kitazawa. The couple shared joyful pre-nup photos on Instagram, receiving congratulations from K-pop fans and netizens alike.
JEY first became known in the music industry as a former trainee at YG Entertainment, participating in the survival show “Mix & Match,”which produced the popular group iKON.
After not being selected for the final group, he made his solo debut under SFR Ent in 2017 and later established his own label, ALFHA, in 2022.
With JEY’s wedding announcement, the couple’s past dating rumors resurfaced, particularly the speculation linking him to (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon.
Before joining Cube Entertainment’s girl group, Miyeon was rumored to be preparing for debut as a member of BLACKPINK. However, she was reportedly omitted from the final lineup, and it was speculated that her involvement in a relationship led to her exclusion due to YG’s strict dating policies.
In 2015, a year prior to BLACKPINK’s debut, photos of Miyeon and Jung Jinhyeong emerged online, with witnesses claiming they had been dating and traveled to Japan together when Miyeon was just 18. Despite the rampant speculation, neither the agency nor the artists ever commented on these rumors.
Nonetheless, their departures from YG have been beneficial; Miyeon has flourished as a leading K-pop star with (G)I-DLE, while JEY has found love and solidified his career in the K-hip-hop scene.
