Tragic Circumstances Surrounding Kim Sae-ron: A Deeper Look
On May 23, reports emerged regarding a poignant message posted by Kim Sae-ron on her private social media account. This heartfelt note from September last year, shared at around 2 a.m., highlighted her emotional struggles and was visible only to a select group of close friends. Although it was deleted after 24 hours—typical of social media features—its contents were confirmed by several friends who viewed it.
The post included a selfie accompanied by an emotionally charged note revealing feelings of profound loneliness and betrayal. In her candid message, Kim expressed gratitude to friends who supported her during tough times, while also confronting others who had distanced themselves. She wrote, “To those who left me at my lowest, think about what you received from me.” This stark commentary underscores the emotional toll that relationships can take during difficult periods.

In a notable part of her message, Kim addressed the controversy surrounding her drunk driving incident, asserting, “The breathalyzer test showed 0. The blood test result was high, but that was from the previous day. There was no blackout. All damages have been compensated.” This incident led to her withdrawing from several projects, including advertisements and film roles, effectively halting her career.
In a concerning turn of events, two friends who noticed the emotional state reflected in her post rushed to her home, arriving within minutes and potentially averting a tragedy. Tragically, five months later, reports confirmed the passing of Kim Sae-ron, compounding the sorrow around her story.

Additionally, reports revealed that during her final years, Kim had accumulated significant debt, borrowing nearly 100 million KRW each from two K-pop idols and two singers, alongside an additional 60 million KRW from her former agency. This financial strain adds another layer of complexity to her tragic narrative.
In a controversial twist, her family claimed through the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute that Kim Sae-ron had been in a long-term relationship with Kim Soo-hyun since she was a minor. Furthermore, they alleged that her agency, Gold Medalist, had issued a legal notice demanding damages. Kim Soo-hyun’s representatives countered this assertion, claiming that their relationship lasted about a year post her reaching adulthood, and emphasized that the legal proceedings were in line with standard protocol. In response to the allegations, Kim Soo-hyun has initiated defamation lawsuits against the channel.

In the midst of this turmoil, Kim Sae-ron’s final film, Guitar Man, is scheduled for release on the 30th. However, the film has already received backlash, with critics pointing out that some of her lines may be seen as inappropriate, therefore perpetuating the controversies that overshadow her legacy.
