In episode 10 of Konosuba season 3, the public was informed of the official announcement of Darkness and Lord Alderp’s wedding date. Kazuma had initially given up on helping Darkness, but when she cried out for help, he changed his mind. Megumin scolded him for his previous actions and decided to handle things in the meantime. She also asked Kazuma about his current project, which turned out to be a rudimentary version of bubble wrap.

After being approached by Darkness’ butler, Aqua and Kazuma were handed a letter from Megumin, in which she quite literally threatened an act of terrorism. Aqua then shared her plan to remove Darkness from her house, which involved gathering a large crowd. She proceeded to call out to Darkness, claiming that she wouldn’t want to miss her greatest trick yet. However, Kazuma intervened and pulled her away, insisting that they return home.

In episode 10 of Konosuba season 3, Aqua promised to return every day until Darkness emerged. After several days, Megumin finally reappeared following the resolution of her pursuit for making terroristic threats. As they sat down to eat, she asked Kazuma for his help, but he remained firm in his decision to not intervene unless she asked for it directly.

Even after Megumin scolded him and mentioned that the man she adores might grumble throughout, he would still come through in the end, Kazuma comically saw through her scheme and refused to be swayed by her sweet words. Later on, the episode skipped ahead to the day of Darkness and Lord Alderp’s wedding, where Kazuma was still popping bubble wrap while Megumin presented her ideas to him.

In episode 10 of Konosuba season 3, Kazuma warned against her attending the wedding due to the inevitable disastrous outcome. He also mentioned that he will not be attending. Megumin scolded him for his lack of concern, causing him to finally admit that he does care. Kazuma then proceeded to share his frustration with Alderp’s repeated mistreatment of women and his ability to never leave any evidence.

Megumin insists that there are compelling reasons to assist Darkness, but Kazuma counters that they are currently unable to take any action and thus need her to request aid. He goes on to reveal that her father is ill and they do not have any other influential figures to turn to for assistance. Despite feeling disheartened, Kazuma attributes their predicament to the unequal circumstances they were dealt with, while Megumin acknowledges that he has been tirelessly considering a solution to rescue her.

In the tenth episode of Konosuba season 3, Megumin stated that she would consider her plan and make a decision based on what she believed was best. She also asked Kazuma to do the same. Before she left, Vanir appeared and offered to assist Kazuma. He also explained Wiz’s latest invention. Vanir then proposed giving Kazuma a large briefcase of money in return for the ideas he could come up with from his own world. Kazuma accepted the offer.

Vanir proceeded to utilize his abilities in order to clarify the situation. However, his explanation was abruptly interrupted by Aqua’s sudden intrusion and attack. This unexpected turn of events led to the revelation that Darkness’ butler had made a return, but had left due to believing that Kazuma was occupied while Vanir regenerated. Subsequently, Vanir took the opportunity to enlighten Kazuma and Aqua on how this entire situation had originated from the destruction of the Mobile Fortress Destroyer in the canon film.

In episode 10 of Konosuba season 3, Vanir reveals that although the town was kept safe, the farmlands surrounding it were destroyed. As a result, the peasants had no choice but to seek aid from Lord Alderp, who refused to help them. This led them to turn to the Dustiness family, exposing the fact that the flood caused by Kazuma and his companions had already decimated the family’s wealth. Consequently, the Dustiness family had to borrow money from Lord Alderp.

Despite the condition that Darkness would marry Lord Alderp if she was unable to pay back the money, Kazuma angrily inquired about the amount she owed. Vanir revealed that the money he had just given to Kazuma and the group, along with their personal assets, would be enough to cover the cost. As the focus shifted to preparing for Darkness’ marriage ceremony, she clearly showed her displeasure. Vanir suggested that they discuss business matters while they made arrangements for the wedding.

In the tenth episode of Konosuba season 3, Darkness reflected on her journey with Kazuma and the rest of the group, expressing her contentment with what she already had and acknowledging that asking for more would be selfish. She also defended her decisions as being for the greater good of the citizens, while imagining how the others would react if they knew the full story.

The ceremony commenced as Darkness entered the chapel and stood next to Alderp before the priest. However, the priest began belittling Alderp and claimed to be a deity, causing Darkness to feel pressured into the marriage. It was later revealed that Aqua was the priest and Kazuma intervened by grabbing Darkness and revealing his true identity before fleeing with her, ending the episode.

In review

Despite not being as obvious as in previous episodes this season, Konosuba season 3 episode 10 still effectively blends character development with advancing the plot. This is exemplified through Kazuma’s actions, as his initial annoyance with the situation gradually transforms into a genuine concern for Darkness and her well-being.

This, in turn, results in significant character growth for other members of the group in the episode. Megumin and Darkness are two prime examples, with Megumin showing her true feelings for Kazuma, even if it was for the sake of manipulation, and Darkness coming to the realization that being with Kazuma and the rest of the group is her true desire in life.

In summation

As the escape operation commences in episode 10 of Konosuba season 3, the upcoming installment is expected to begin with a flashback, revealing Kazuma and his companions’ plan. However, based on their track record, it is unlikely to go smoothly, especially with the interference of Lord Alderp, who is desperate to marry Darkness.
