Kowloon Generic Romance Anime and Live-Action Adaptation Set to Release in 2025

On Friday, October 11, 2024, Shueisha revealed exciting news regarding the creator of After the Rain, Jun Mayuzuki. His latest work, Kowloon Generic Romance, is going to be adapted into both an anime series and a live-action film scheduled for release in 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a combined teaser trailer and visual that fans can look forward to.

Kowloon Generic Romance is a captivating manga authored and illustrated by Jun Mayuzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine since November 2019, and it currently boasts nine collected volumes.

On Friday, Shueisha confirmed that Jun Mayuzuki’s Kowloon Generic Romance will receive both anime and live-action adaptations, with both formats set to launch in 2025.

The announcement featured a combined teaser visual showcasing the main characters, Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudō, in their anime and live-action forms. The imagery presents a poignant scene of Kudō tenderly touching Kujirai’s face, captured in both adaptations.

The teaser trailer offers an exciting first look, featuring both anime and live-action footage that interchangeably presents the characters and the Kowloon setting, allowing fans a taste of what’s to come in both formats.

In the anime adaptation, Haruka Shiraishi lends her voice to Reiko Kujirai, a real estate agent operating in Kowloon. Shiraishi is known for her previous roles as Asirpa in Golden Kamuy and Kirie Motoba in Himouto! Umaru-chan. Her colleague, Hajime Kudō, will be voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, who has voiced notable characters like Sakata Gintoki from Gintama and Gyoumei Himejima from Demon Slayer.

For the live-action adaptation, Riho Yoshioka will portray Reiko Kujirai, recognized for her roles in Anime Supremacy! and Blind. Additionally, Kōshi Mizukami will take on the role of Hajime Kudō, known for his work in titles like Nina and My Love.
