Lawsuit Filed Against Fortnite Player for Tournament Cheating Using Software and Hardware

In light of recent cheating incidents during Fortnite tournaments, Epic Games has initiated legal proceedings to address the issue effectively.

To enhance the integrity of competitive play, Epic Games has revamped the regulations governing the FCNS Divisional Cups and other Fortnite competitions offering cash rewards. As part of these reforms, players must now progress through several rounds before qualifying for cash prizes, which will be available exclusively at the highest levels of competition.

Moreover, Epic Games has issued a stern warning to participants, stating, “Anyone found teaming up with a cheater in a tournament will face a minimum 28-day competitive ban, with increased penalties for subsequent violations.” Players with a competitive ban lasting 14 days or more will be prohibited from participating in FCNS tournaments throughout the current season, as well as in any overlapping seasons. Looking ahead, Epic Games intends to enforce additional eligibility requirements for competitors.

In its crackdown on dishonesty, Epic Games emphasized, “We’re also ramping up legal action against players who cheat and those who sell cheating software.” This commitment has manifested in actual legal cases, as reported by CharlieIntel, which highlighted that Epic Games has filed a lawsuit against a Fortnite player who utilized cheats during a competitive event.

Epic Games confirmed, “This week we filed a lawsuit against a player who cheated in our tournaments.” The accused individual employed cheating software and hardware, attempting to elude detection by creating multiple accounts. However, this strategy proved ineffective. The company firmly maintains that cheating has no place in Fortnite and affirms its dedication to eradicating it through legal measures.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the outcome remains uncertain.
