A significant leak has shed light on numerous details concerning Modern Warfare 4, the upcoming installment in the Call of Duty franchise set for release in 2026. Interestingly, this installment appears to be moving away from some of the pivotal changes seen in Black Ops 6 and the forthcoming Black Ops 7.
As excitement builds for Black Ops 7, which is slated to launch on November 14, attention is also starting to shift towards Infinity Ward’s next project. This new title is expected to prominently feature a campaign centered around the geopolitical tensions between North and South Korea.
Revival of Tactical Sprint and Abandonment of Omnimovement
According to reputable leaker realityuk, Modern Warfare 4 will reintroduce the Tactical Sprint feature. This mechanic, which enhances running speed but at the expense of Aim Down Sights (ADS) speed, has been altered in Black Ops 7, where it will be relegated to being a Perk rather than the default setting.
Despite its presence since Modern Warfare (2019), the series has been gradually distancing itself from Tactical Sprint.Black Ops 6 even introduced the Slipstream Perk to eliminate it entirely. However, signs suggest that Infinity Ward remains committed to this gameplay style.

Another notable modification is the reported elimination of the omnimovement system. This innovative mechanic, which allowed players to sprint and dive while maintaining their forward gaze, was heavily promoted in Black Ops 6 and was expected to be a continuing feature of the series.
However, it appears that MW4 will revert to the more conventional movement mechanics from MW3 and MW2. Fellow leaker COD Warfare has indicated that Infinity Ward seems to have reservations about the new movement system.
Additionally, realityuk revealed that Modern Warfare 4 will not include the dedicated melee slot introduced in Black Ops 6, will disable ADS while sliding, and will bring back a pronounced visual recoil that polarized players who experienced Modern Warfare 2.
While this information is currently based on leaks and unofficial sources, and it is essential to consider that development plans are subject to change, the community eagerly awaits further official announcements, scheduled for 2026.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to the upcoming content for Black Ops 7, with CoD Next happening on September 30, followed closely by the beta phase.
