Lim Ji-yeon’s Inspiring Transformation from Oppressed Slave to Life-Altering Character

On October 22, JTBC released the initial teaser poster showcasing Lim Ji-yeon for the upcoming weekend drama, “The Story of Lady Ok.”

Scheduled to launch on November 30, “The Story of Lady Ok” narrates the gripping tale of survival of Ok Tae-young, portrayed by Lim Ji-yeon. Her entire existence—including her identity, social standing, and husband—is built on a web of lies, while her dedicated supporter, the skilled Cheon Seung-hwi, played by Choo Young-woo, stands by her. Lim Ji-yeon, recognized for her remarkable emotive ability and distinctive presence in various roles, will display two starkly different aspects of her character throughout the series.

The debut poster presents an ironic visual of the slave Gu Deok-i, clad in worn-out rags, seated atop a flower palanquin. This striking juxtaposition between her tattered attire and the vibrant, opulent embellishments of the palanquin illustrates her tragic fate, living a life that starkly contrasts with her supposed status.

Furthermore, the demeanor and expression of the slave Gu Deok-i as she sits in the palanquin are particularly striking. Although her clothing is drab and her face reveals signs of hardship, her seated posture and facial expression surprisingly radiate a sense of grace.

The particularly intriguing phrase, “the fate of a slave in a flower palanquin,” alongside her complex mix of apprehension and assurance, hints at the intricate psychology of slave Gu Deok-i, who must navigate the challenges of her life pretending to be the noblewoman Ok Tae-young, which is sure to heighten viewer intrigue.
