Renowned technology YouTuber Linus Sebastian, famously known for his channel “Linus Tech Tips, ”is responding vigorously after a former employee posted a viral video citing stagnant wages and a shift in company culture as reasons for his departure.
Linus, the founder of Linus Media Group (LMG), has faced consistent scrutiny regarding the company’s work environment. Following accusations of a toxic workplace in 2024, concerns resurfaced in 2026 when Jake Tivy, a former staff member, shared his striking reasons for quitting in a YouTube video.
In his video, Tivy expressed feelings of being undervalued, claiming that his pay had not increased over three years despite the rising cost of living in his area. He lamented LMG’s refusal to adjust his salary during this period.
“You start to wonder while you’re working on your boss’s third house if you’ll ever be able to buy a home yourself, ” Tivy stated, emphasizing that the workplace he initially joined had transformed into something entirely different by the time he decided to leave.
Linus Responds to Employee’s Viral Claims
A week later, Linus addressed the situation through multiple social media channels. On February 6, he tweeted a link that led to a video on his personal channel, titled “Why I Left Linus Media Group.”
This link, however, led viewers to a classic ‘Rickroll’ video under the playful name “Cute Little Puppy Doing Cute Things, ” showcasing Linus’s lighthearted response to Tivy’s claims. His actions carried a tone of sarcasm as he continued to engage with various comments about the video.

Many observers noted an apparent change in Linus’s demeanor, with one commenter suggesting he seemed increasingly indifferent. Linus humorously replied, “I checked my wallet. I checked my bank account. I checked all three of my houses. There were no fucks left in any of them.”

This situation is not the first instance of controversy surrounding Linus and LMG. In 2024, serious allegations surfaced from a former employee who claimed the organization harbored a toxic workplace, including accusations of bullying and sexual harassment. A subsequent investigation led by Vancouver-based legal firm Roper Greyell cleared LMG of substantiated claims regarding workplace misconduct.
