LoL Pro Bwipo Shares Insights on His “Calmer” Mindset Following Viral Outburst and Mental Health Evaluation

LoL professional player Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau recently shared on stream that he feels “calmer” following his interaction with a mental health professional, a move that came after a controversial viral outburst where he criticized other pros in the League of Legends community.

The League of Legends esports scene has faced significant scrutiny due to Bwipo’s outspoken comments. The FlyQuest top laner, known for his candid opinions, went on multiple rants, labeling several players in the LEC as “paycheck stealers.” While Bwipo’s bold statements have previously sparked discussions, many felt that his recent outburst crossed a line.

In reaction, streamer and former pro player Caedrel responded to Bwipo’s comments, calling them “childish.” Following the backlash, Bwipo issued an apology to those he affected through a statement on Twitter.

Now, Bwipo has elaborated on the reasons behind his behavior, stating that after being contacted by League analyst LS and discussing his issues with a mental health professional, he feels “a lot calmer.”

Bwipo mentioned that LS reached out out of concern for his recent behavior and confirmed he has been in touch with his mental health specialist, who provided him with a diagnosis. by u/KIRYUx in leagueoflegends

“LS reached out to me because he was concerned about my well-being based on my behavior, and I proceeded to contact my mental health specialist,” Bwipo explained.

He revealed that he received a diagnosis during his session, shedding light on why he had been acting differently. “Basically, I got diagnosed with something, but I’m not sure how to label it. There was definitely something happening with me, which is why you see me being a lot calmer now,” he shared.

Bwipo also indicated plans to create a video discussing these experiences to provide further insight, while reinforcing that he has always embraced his controversial reputation. He mentioned that he is resilient to criticism. “I’ve always been a controversial player, and when it comes to gameplay, I’m pretty thick-skinned. I don’t mind if people have negative opinions about me,” Bwipo admitted. “It can be disappointing, of course, as it’s more pleasant to hear that I’m the greatest player, but I recognize my gameplay has weaknesses that I need to work on.”
