LPL Player Kicked from Former Worlds Winning Team After Physical Fight with Manager

LPL player Ping “xiaolaohu”Xiaohu has been dismissed from FunPlus Phoenix following a physical altercation that took place during a practice session.

According to a Weibo post by xiaolaohu, it was revealed that during scrims, he had an argument with FPX’s assistant coach, Chen “Mouse”Yuhao, after the coach questioned one of his plays. The argument escalated until their manager, Cao “Denny”Feng, stepped in to intervene.

According to xiaoluhu, as translated by X user tttttyuc, when he instructed Denny to be quiet, Denny responded by standing up, pushing his chest, pointing a finger at his face, and questioning, “Who do you think you’re telling to be quiet?”This led to Denny demanding that he leave.

I was concerned that he might strike me, so I cautioned him to be careful with his hand. He proceeded to lower his hand, but began shouting in my face, repeatedly demanding, “Who do you think you’re telling to be quiet?”and ordering me to leave.

Following the fight, Xiaolaohu departed from the FPX building and requested that Denny release him from his contract. He gathered his belongings from the team dorm and spent the night at a former teammate’s residence.

During a meeting between FPX’s management and the rest of the team, a teammate of xiaolaohu claimed that they had attempted to “emotionally manipulate”them.

According to sources, Denny and the management team were reportedly considering taking legal action against xiaolaohu and imposing a fine for his contract violation.

Despite the altercation, teammates Yang “Care”Jie and Cai “Milkyway”Zijun expressed their willingness to serve as witnesses to the incident. Milkyway even stated that he would refuse to play if xiaolaohu faced punishment.

A statement was released by FPX, several hours after the fight became public, addressing the issue and stating that it had been resolved between xiaolaohu and Denny.

According to FPX’s statement, xiaolaohu, as a player, should have avoided offending his direct supervisor even when the manager stepped in. Similarly, Denny, as a manager, should not have resorted to physical assault or the unwise choice of sending the player home during the communication process.

Despite the resolution of the issue, people were still perplexed by the fact that FPX’s manager remained in his position despite physically assaulting a player.

“According to Fnatic’s Valorant team manager Cojo, it seems that in the Western region, any aggressive physical contact with a player as a General Manager is the fastest way to get fired, isn’t it?”questioned Cojo in a tweet.

“The fan remarked that xiaolaohu should be grateful that he was taken back, as it was being portrayed.”

FunPlus Phoenix will face off against EDward Gaming on June 10 in a group stage match during the LPL Summer 2024 Split.
