Madden 25 Ultimate Team Exploit: How Players Built Super Teams on Launch Day

A glitch in Madden 25 Ultimate Team gave players the opportunity to create their ideal lineup on launch day, leaving other users at a disadvantage in the competition.

To commemorate the release of Madden 25, Ultimate Team introduced a one-coin pack in the store containing one card with a minimum overall rating of 78. Unlike previous events where the number of packs that could be opened was restricted, players were able to exploit the system and purchase an unlimited number of packs.

Despite EA taking 40 minutes to fix the glitch, it still left enough time for people to exploit the error. Zirksee, a Madden content creator, shared multiple images of top-tier Season of Boom promo cards that were obtained from the packs.

Some players were fortunate enough to acquire the 85 overall Season of Boom Josh Allen card for only one coin in the Ultimate Team auction house, while others may have had to pay around 300,000 coins for it.

Furthermore, the packs contain team training that players can utilize to boost the overall rating of their items. As multiple users have opened hundreds of these packs, they now possess a wealth of training resources to enhance their teams.

Due to this, a few teams will have the highest overall cards in the game mode on the first day. This puts new users at a disadvantage when they log in for the first time on launch day.

The development team neither addressed the exploit nor confirmed whether users who utilized it would face consequences.

EA was criticized for a similar situation in which players received free 97 overall TOTY Messi cards in FC 24 Ultimate Team due to a temporary pack glitch. However, in contrast to this recent case, EA did not penalize the players or confiscate their player items.

Unfortunately, this is not the only problem plaguing Ultimate Team. On August 15, EA took the extreme step of temporarily closing the auction house. However, despite this action, players continued to face difficulties as they were unable to sell their cards due to incorrect price floors after the update.
