MAMAMOO Solar Flashes Middle Finger to Fans — Idol Garners Unexpected Reactions

After a fan event, MAMAMOO Solar sparked conversation for flipping off fans. How did MooMoos respond to this?

On April 30, Solar made her comeback as a solo artist and released her second mini-album, titled “COLOURS,”which includes the lead single “But I.”The album also features 5 additional tracks: “Colors,””Empty,””Honey Honey,””Easy Peasy,”and “Blues.”

Among the tracklist, the song “Colors”is gaining attention for its bold message and unique choreography incorporating whacking, voguing, sashays and other unconventional moves.

Its empowering lyrics also garnered a tremendous amount of attention.

“Look in the mirror and pose. So damn fine. And say it, ‘I’m sick, so bad.’ Louder, louder. ‘I’m sick, I’m hot, I’m gorgeous, so bad.’”

If you find this to be sufficiently distinctive, the choreography was what truly took the performance to the next level, as it included flashing the middle finger towards the camera.

Regrettably, the initial dance move was censored in the video and prohibited from being performed on music shows, causing her to modify it to a “throat-slitting”gesture.

During a recent event, MooMoos were treated to a fan event featuring Solar, where she confidently and alluringly performed her song “Colors”on stage.

However, as she became too immersed in the performance, Solar accidentally performed the original choreography for the “middle finger”move. Upon realizing her mistake, she was flustered and promptly lowered her head in apology to the fans.

In the past of K-pop, idols who showed their middle fingers at events or in photos faced stern backlash for not only being highly disrespectful towards their fans, but also setting a negative example for younger fans.

Solar’s video eventually gained traction on several social media platforms, such as X and TikTok, showcasing the moment when she flipped off fans.

Despite the usual reactions, MooMoos are responding differently to Solar’s mistake by refraining from criticism.

Instead of requesting an apology from the idol, the fandom is instead showing their unique upbringing by asking Solar to repeat the action in front of the fans, viewing it as an accomplishment and privilege to be playfully flicked by her.

Despite being Solar’s first album in 2 years, “COLOURS”quickly rose to the top of the iTunes “Top Album”chart in five countries and regions around the world upon its release on Apr. 30th.

The album’s global impact was demonstrated by its 4th position on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and 10th position on the European iTunes Album Chart, solidifying Solar’s influence on an international scale.

The title song “But I”has received a high response, reaching the top 10 of the iTunes “Top Song”chart in 7 countries worldwide. Additionally, the songs “Colors”and “Blues”were also well-received and ranked high on the iTunes “Top Song”chart in different regions.
