In Season 0 of Marvel Rivals, Moon Knight emerged as a competent Duelist, but recent enhancements to his abilities have elevated him to a status that many players deem excessively formidable. There is growing frustration surrounding a particular aspect of his skill set, with many arguing that he is currently overpowered.
The focal point of this contention is Moon Knight’s ultimate ability, Hand of Konshu, which has recently been criticized as overly strong.
Ultimate Ability Sparks Player Frustration
Players are expressing their dissatisfaction with Moon Knight’s kit, especially in regard to the timing of Hand of Konshu. Unlike many other characters in Marvel Rivals, the ultimate showcases an alarming lack of delay between activation and its devastating aerial strike on enemies. This has led to significant imbalance concerns, especially when compared to other heroes’ abilities.
As highlighted in a popular Reddit discussion, many ultimates in the game come with a notable warning before they can inflict damage. For example, Scarlet Witch’s ultimate move, Reality Measure, requires a substantial four-second cast time accompanied by a distinct auditory cue, giving opponents ample opportunity to react.
Although Moon Knight does provide a brief audio signal for his ultimate, the combination of a 1.5-second ability delay and the ability to strike from a great distance renders this warning almost ineffective. His giant claws, invoking the presence of the god Konshu, descend upon adversaries with minimal forewarning.

Hand of Konshu is significantly overpowered due to its minimal casting time.
In other instances, if players successfully manage to eliminate a character during the casting of their ultimate, the intended attack typically gets cancelled. However, Moon Knight’s unique mechanics grant him an immunity to this, which many gamers find frustrating.
Further complaints cater to the fact that even if Moon Knight is killed while invoking his ultimate, it proceeds to activate spontaneously, often without the completion of his standard voice lines. As one Reddit user pointed out, “If you kill him as he’s casting, then the ultimate still goes off but there’s no callout… Or the callout is just ‘th’. Has definitely gotten me at least twice.”
While this specific issue was less visible during Season 0, the recent Season 1 patch notes have increased the potency of Hand of Konshu, augmenting the number of talons launched and amplifying their explosive radius.
The balance adjustments made in the initial half of Season 1 seem to favor Duelists like Moon Knight, with similar enhancements observed for characters such as Wolverine, Winter Soldier, Namor, and particularly Storm. Thus, even though the endless assault from Konshu is relentless this season, players have an extended roster of formidable foes to contend with.
However, it’s worth noting that NetEase has demonstrated a responsive approach to game balance in Marvel Rivals, promising to deliver an array of fresh content and adjustments in future patches.
