Marvel Rivals Developers Address Rumors of Upcoming PvE Mode Development

Recent speculation regarding a potential PvE mode in Marvel Rivals has piqued the interest of the gaming community. A developer from NetEase has now shed light on these rumors, confirming the current status of such a mode.

In January 2025, two prominent leakers associated with Marvel Rivals suggested that NetEase had begun developing a PvE experience for the popular hero shooter. Notably, a leaker going by the name RivalsInfo reported discovering a tag indicating that PvE might still be in development stages. However, NetEase has not officially validated these claims, leaving many players pondering the possibilities of this mode and what it may add to the gameplay.

An Official Response from Marvel Rivals’ Producer

The ongoing rumors led IGN to query Weicong Wu, the producer of Marvel Rivals, concerning the speculated PvE feature during an interview at the 2025 DICE Summit.

Wu stated unequivocally that there are currently no plans for a PvE mode.“As of now, we don’t have any PvE plans, but our development team is consistently experimenting with new gameplay modes. If we discover a specific game mode that is both entertaining and enjoyable, we would certainly consider introducing it to our audience, ”he explained.

Wu’s remarks suggest a divergence from the initial rumors, raising the possibility that a PvE mode may have been considered at some point. However, he stopped short of confirming any ongoing development related to this feature.

Player interest in PvE content remains high, especially following the letdown associated with Overwatch 2’s own PvE offerings. Developers have observed that community demand for PvE elements in multiplayer games is strong, and NetEase Games is no stranger to experimenting with unique game modes.

For instance, the recent Clash of Dancing Lions limited-time mode (LTM) provided a fresh, Rocket League-inspired gameplay experience during the Spring Festival. Prior to that, the Winter Celebration event introduced an innovative, Splatoon-like mode titled Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival.

While the future of a PvE mode in Marvel Rivals remains uncertain, the developers are clearly committed to exploring new ideas and enhancing player experiences.
