Marvel Rivals has just unveiled an exciting surprise for its competitive community. The latest mid-season reward for Gold-ranked players is a brand-new skin for a beloved hero, and contrary to expectations, it isn’t another member from the Fantastic Four sporting red tights.
During the initial phase of Season 1, titled “Eternal Night Falls, ” players achieving Gold III or higher were gifted with the Invisible Woman’s “Blood Shield” skin. To claim this exclusive item, participants had to do so by February 21. Following that, anticipation built around what the next skin would be.
Responding to player concerns, the development team decided to eliminate mid-season rank resets, allowing players to retain their status once they reach Gold. This change reassures players who were previously anxious about losing their hard-earned ranks.
Importantly, even if players experience a drop in rank before the mid-season update, they will still receive the Blood Shield skin, effectively preserving their achievements.

The Human Torch Takes Center Stage with New Skin
As the second half of Season 1 progresses, players reaching the Gold rank will be rewarded with the “Blood Blaze” skin for none other than the Human Torch. This new design adds a fiery edge to one of the final members of the Fantastic Four, making it a thrilling addition for competitive gamers.
In the recent Dev Talk 2, NetEase confirmed the revised Gold rank costume rewards for the season. This includes the previously available Invisible Woman skin, Blood Shield, alongside the fresh Human Torch skin.
This announcement marks a significant pivot from the initial feedback received during the first Dev Talk, which had drawn considerable criticism from the player community.
NetEase also cautioned players, stating, “This is your final chance to earn these costumes as they will be swapped out for new rewards in Season 2.” This hints at ongoing developments and changes planned for the game’s future.
The community response has been overwhelmingly positive. Players have expressed their enthusiasm, with one player saying, “They are giving you until the end of the season to earn the IW reward AND also allowing you to get a Human Torch skin for placing Gold in competitive.”
Another enthusiastically mentioned, “I work full time and rarely get to play but made Plat. I think Gold is Gold, and there’s definitely a reasonable amount of time already to reach it.”
Amid the praise, some humor surfaced as well, with a player quipping, “You guys are doing this all wrong; you’re supposed to spend years doing nothing before addressing player concerns.”
NetEase’s swift response to player feedback by scrapping mid-season resets and modifying rank rewards illustrates their commitment to enhancing the player experience. If they maintain this trajectory, the future of Marvel Rivals appears promising.
