After a seven-year wait, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has resurfaced with a new title and a glimpse into the world that Samus will traverse.
Despite its rocky past, Metroid Prime 4 has undergone significant changes. Initially revealed in 2017 under the leadership of Bandai Namco, Nintendo later disclosed in 2019 that the project had been abandoned and restarted, now under the direction of Retro Studios.
Following a seven-year wait, the highly anticipated Prime series is finally making its return to Nintendo systems. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is poised to potentially be the final standout title for the Switch, making for an impressive finale.
When is the release window for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to be released in 2025. Although this may seem like a lengthy release window, it is still a significant improvement from the lack of information that fans have had since its initial cancellation and subsequent revival.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Trailers
Although initially revealed in 2017 as Metroid Prime 4, the announcement was simply a logo with no accompanying footage. As a result, we will not be including it here for reposting.
Instead, the first gameplay trailer was revealed during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, which can be viewed on the Nintendo UK YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_ZBMzz-LCQ&ab_channel=NintendoUK.

What We Know About Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The gameplay footage revealed during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct gave us our first look at the upcoming game, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. It was announced that the game will feature Sylux as the main antagonist, with the trailer showing him leading the Space Pirates and accompanied by Metroids.
The game will incorporate both first-person shooting and third-person exploration segments, with Samus navigating through a vast new forest world. This world was briefly shown in the trailer’s ending scene.
Platforms for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
At present, it has been confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will only be available for the Nintendo Switch. Although the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch is set to release in 2025, there is still no confirmation on whether it will support backward compatibility or if there will be a separate version of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for the new platform.
