Renowned British actor Sir Michael Caine has embarked on a pioneering venture by partnering with AI audio technology company ElevenLabs. This collaboration will enable the creation of an authorized synthetic version of Caine’s voice, which will be utilized for both commercial and creative projects.
As officially announced on November 11, this partnership allows for Caine’s distinctive voice to be integrated into the ElevenReader app and made accessible through the groundbreaking Iconic Voice Marketplace. This platform is designed to offer a range of celebrity voices to brands and content creators, all while adhering to a strict consent and compensation framework.
Understanding the Deal and Key Participants
Through the Iconic Voice Marketplace, users can request permission to employ Caine’s voice for approved projects. Additionally, the ElevenReader app will leverage this synthesized voice model to provide engaging narration for a variety of written materials, including books, articles, and PDFs.
In related news revealed at the Summit, actor Matthew McConaughey is not only an investor in ElevenLabs but is also utilizing an authorized synthetic version of his own voice. This technology is being employed for the Spanish-language edition of his newsletter, “Lyrics of Livin’.”
Expressing his enthusiasm about the partnership, Caine stated, “For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that moved people — tales of courage, wit, and the human spirit. Now, I’m helping others find theirs. With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices — not just mine, but anyone’s.”
