Min Hee Jin Accused of Poaching NewJeans Members From Source Music: Claims ‘So Sungjin Birthed Them’

According to an article from Dispatch, it was discovered that CEO Min Hee Jin had cunningly recruited the current members of NewJeans from Source Music to form her own girl group.

Dispatch Claims Source Music CEO Min Brought Members to ADOR Before NewJeans Debut

On April 24, the Korean outlet reported that Min Hee Jin was responsible for causing Source Music’s financial struggles before the success of LE SSERAFIM. She was seen as the “mastermind”behind the company’s initial difficulties.

In the writings, it was explained how Min joined HYBE and was appointed as a CEO, along with her scheme to seize control of ADOR while also reaping benefits from its parent company.

The media outlet’s comprehensive timeline began with the scouting of NewJeans members as trainees. It began with Minji who joined Source Music in 2017, followed by Hanni in 2019. Both members successfully auditioned for Big Hit x SouMu.

In 2020, Haerin and Danielle joined the label, followed by Hyein who was recruited online to join them at a later time. These three members, along with two others, were carefully chosen by Source Music CEO So Sungjin to form a new girl group. Under the company’s training, the five members prepared for their debut until the second half of 2021.

In 2019, HYBE hired Min Hee Jin as CBO. Originally, her role was to oversee the branding for the company’s multiple labels.

As per the original plan, she was meant to collaborate with Source Music’s girl group. However, she expressed her desire to establish her own label beforehand. This led HYBE to appoint her as the CEO of its newly formed affiliate company, ADOR.

When picking members for her group, she selected Minji, Hanni, Haerin, Danielle, and Hyein (now known as NewJeans). She subsequently provided Source Music with the funds for their training.

Dispatch emphasized that although Min is known as the “mother”of NewJeans for her outstanding influence in improving the members, Source Music CEO So Sungjin tirelessly provided them with resources and nurtured them for a period of three years, much like a parent giving birth to their children.

The media outlet also reported on CEO Min Hee Jin’s previous statement where she denied that NewJeans’ success was a result of HYBE’s influence.

“At the time, I received similar investment proposals from other places, so there was no reason it had to be HYBE.”

Although NewJeans’ contributions have played a significant role, the group’s success can also be attributed to the support of the HYBE system.

Min Hee Jin didn’t solely recruit the members from scratch; instead, she cleverly formed them by “stealing”them from Source Music.

If the girl group were to fail, HYBE would be responsible for the entire debt, meaning that the success of NewJeans would not solely belong to her.
