Attention, Minecraft enthusiasts! The moment you’ve been eagerly awaiting has arrived. We now have a name for the much-anticipated Fall update scheduled for 2025. This exciting update, titled “The Copper Age”, promises to unlock your inner Redstone engineer by introducing a variety of new copper items and innovative game mechanics, including interactive shelves. Let’s dive into the details and discover what features the latest update has in store for players.

As revealed during the recent Minecraft Monthly livestream on YouTube, the next Fall drop has been officially named “The Copper Age.” Interestingly, our community’s speculation referring to it as the “Age of Copper”was quite close. The revelation was highlighted through a series of clues provided by the Mojang team, culminating in a disclosure by Agnes Larsson, the Director of Mojang Studios.

But what led to the selection of such a name? According to Agnes, while copper has existed in the game for an extended period, Mojang has finally recognized its full potential in this update, enabling players to appreciate copper’s significance like never before. Now, let’s explore the exciting new features that The Copper Age brings to Minecraft.

Introducing New Copper Items in The Copper Age

At the forefront of the Fall update is the delightful copper golem, a charming and compact passive mob designed to assist players in organizing their inventory. Fans of the game were ecstatic when Mojang announced this addition, as it was a popular choice during previous mob votes.

Beyond the copper golem, players can now enjoy an entire suite of new copper tools and equipment. This includes copper chests, armor pieces like chestplates and helmets, and various tools such as pickaxes and swords. Additionally, decorative items—including copper chains and bars—add to the crafting experience.

In a significant gameplay enhancement, the oxidizing process for copper items is no longer merely aesthetic. In The Copper Age, both the copper golem and other copper blocks will undergo dynamic oxidation and aging. Once a copper golem reaches its final oxidized state, it will transform into a Copper Golem Statue and become non-functional.

But don’t worry! You can restore your copper items by using an axe to remove their patina or by treating them with honeycomb to wax the copper blocks in-game.

Revolutionizing Storage with Interactive Shelves

The introduction of shelves marks a significant innovation in item storage and display within Minecraft. These versatile items can be automated with Redstone, providing gamers with unprecedented organizational capabilities.

To craft a shelf, players will need six stripped logs from any wood type. When placed on any surface, shelves allow for item display while superseding the need for item frames, as they can accommodate entire stacks of items within their designated cells.

What’s more, shelves can be activated to replace the leftmost three items in your hotbar. By linking two or more shelves, players can seamlessly swap out groups of items—allowing for more efficient inventory management.

The fun doesn’t stop there! A new Smurfs DLC is also available for download, promising more adventures and experiences while players await the full release of The Copper Age.

With an array of new features—including the copper golem statues and interactions between copper and iron golems—community excitement is at an all-time high. What are your thoughts on the upcoming features in Minecraft version 1.21.9? Share your opinions in the comments below!
