Minecraft Herdcraft Update Removes Inventory Feature for April Fools’ Day

Minecraft has a longstanding tradition of embracing playful creativity on April Fool’s Day, and the latest update, known as the Herdcraft snapshot, takes this whimsical spirit to unexpected heights. This year’s iteration introduces an unconventional twist: the complete removal of the inventory system. Gone are the days of meticulously organized inventory slots and well-stocked bundles of blocks.

Discovering the Herdcraft Snapshot: A New Kind of Gameplay

The Herdcraft update precedes the upcoming Minecraft Chaos Cubed snapshot, presenting players with a radically different experience. This innovative snapshot shifts the traditional gameplay by eliminating the inventory entirely. Instead, players are granted a transparent view of their live inventory, which is now displayed at the bottom of their screen for all to see as they traverse the world.

As players dive into this bizarre iteration, they will quickly notice that the familiar inventory interface has been replaced. No longer will players see slots filled with their collected items; instead, a dynamic display shows the blocks they have unlocked in their unique world. Curious about how one gathers resources amidst this upheaval? The familiar mechanic remains the same: start by punching a block to acquire it.

Within the Herdcraft universe, players can select the Punch option from their hotbar and strike any block to release its spirit. Following that, use the Attack/Mine option to extract the spirit of the block, allowing it to be manipulated further.

Once a block’s spirit is freed, it can be commanded to follow you. These spirits are tied to the player via a lead, creating a lively companionship as they navigate the world together. Players can send these spirits to various locations, adding a touch of whimsy to block collection.

Crafting has also been transformed in this snapshot. No longer confined to traditional crafting tables displayed on the user interface, players must now manually place blocks on the ground to craft. This change may seem daunting, as it requires a more labor-intensive approach: bringing each block one at a time to the crafting surface. Personally, I would prefer a cluttered inventory to this tedious process.

Combat in the Herdcraft snapshot has taken on a surreal and innovative dimension. Rather than actively engaging enemies yourself, players can issue commands to their gathered weapons, allowing them to battle collectively.
