Despite their best efforts, the tides turned for the worse when Sukuna unleashed his Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine upon Yuji and his comrades on the battlefield. Although Yuji and a few others managed to hold their own, Maki Zen’in was on the brink of defeat.
Despite dealing a considerable amount of damage to the King of Curses in the previous chapters, Maki also endured two direct Black Flashes from Sukuna and a barrage of fatal slashes that ultimately incapacitated her during the fight.

In the current battle, both Kusakabe and Yuji have utilized a Simple Domain to shield themselves from Sukuna’s attacks and his Domain.
Although Simple Domain does somewhat counteract a Domain Expansion’s ability to guarantee a hit, it does not guarantee the complete protection of its users. In fact, as demonstrated in Yuji’s case in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 258, it can be easily destroyed by a well-executed Domain Expansion within a matter of seconds.
