Developer San Diego Studio has crafted this new installment with an emphasis on fan feedback, aiming to elevate the player experience.
According to Forbes, the studio is reshaping the gameplay to embody what they describe as a “fan-appreciation version of the series.”With the enthusiasm in the air, many are eager to see enhancements, particularly within the beloved Road to the Show mode.
While specific details are yet to be fully disclosed, Sony has confirmed some key aspects that fans will find captivating.
Release Date for MLB The Show 25
According to a recent entry on the PlayStation Blog, MLB The Show 25 is set to launch on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Moreover, players who opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition will gain early access starting Friday, March 14. Pre-orders for both the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions will be available beginning Tuesday, February 4, at 6:00 AM PST.
Platforms and Game Pass Availability
MLB The Show 25 is scheduled for release on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
However, it’s important to note that, as stated in the blog, the game will not be accessible via platform subscription services in 2025. This announcement highlights that MLB The Show 25 will not be included on Xbox Game Pass, breaking a precedent set by its predecessors that launched on the service.
Cover Athletes for MLB The Show 25
In celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, this year’s cover will feature three MLB stars for the first time in the series’ history: Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson.
SDS Brand Strategist Ramone Russell remarked on this milestone, stating, “These rising stars join a rich history of legendary cover athletes, symbolizing the future of baseball as we celebrate 20 incredible years of the franchise.”
To highlight the achievements of these athletes: Paul Skenes made headlines as the number one overall pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2023 draft and became the first player ever to start an All-Star Game within a year of being drafted.
Meanwhile, Elly De La Cruz debuted with the Cincinnati Reds in 2023 and gained recognition for being one of the youngest players to complete a cycle within a single game.
Gunnar Henderson was chosen as the 42nd overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 2019, making his debut in the 2022 season and playing a key role in his team’s postseason appearance after a seven-year drought in 2023. His accolades include winning the AL Rookie of the Year and a Silver Slugger Award.
