MoistCr1tikal announces “indefinite” social media hiatus after podcast backlash

YouTube sensation MoistCr1tikal has decided to temporarily withdraw from his social media presence due to negative reception towards his co-host, Kaya, and a public argument with fellow influencer Sneako.

An announcement was sent to the subscribers of The Official Podcast’s Patreon on July 30, revealing that popular YouTuber Charles ‘Moistcr1tikal’ White will be stepping away from his involvement in the podcast, including the Red Thread segment.

“According to the statement, he has expressed his desire to take an indefinite break from the internet in order to limit his online presence. The statement also conveys our well wishes for him and urges everyone to honor his decision. It is important to note that our show will always welcome him back to engage in discussions whenever he chooses to return.”

Despite the current hosts continuing to carry on with the show as usual, they are contemplating the possibility of adding a replacement in the future, depending on the circumstances.

Despite the shock and lack of surprise from MoistCr1tikal’s fanbase, some have noted that the YouTuber had been relatively quiet on both shows for a while.

The influencer’s abrupt break from social media comes after a series of contentious events, including a heated dispute with controversial figure Sneako over transgender rights in July.

On Reddit, Moist also received criticism for some remarks made by his Official Podcast co-host, Kaya, regarding a polyamorous relationship involving a woman that were deemed by users to be “sexist.”

In a subsequent episode, Kaya made a comment about young girls that caused viewers to express concern, deeming him “creepy.”

Viewers on Reddit urged MoistCr1tikal to address the situation, but after these occurrences and his disagreement with Sneako, there are concerns that he may be experiencing burnout.

“I am concerned about Charlie’s well-being,”one person wrote. “He has seemed extremely stressed ever since discussing trans kids with Sneako and expressing frustration with his chat.”

“It’s unfortunate that Kaya has been receiving a lot of scrutiny lately, and it would be disappointing if that was a contributing factor. It’s difficult not to feel disheartened by such a significant shift in a podcast that we have faithfully followed every episode of. Hopefully, this isn’t a sign that the podcast’s demise is imminent.”

So far, Moist has not made an official statement on the subject through his personal social media platforms, leaving his followers questioning the potential impact on his YouTube content.
