While unconventional gaming controllers are not new, a dedicated main of the Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter Wilds is taking this trend to extraordinary heights. The Hunting Horn, known for its amusing flair within Capcom’s popular RPG series, offers a gameplay experience quite different from using traditional weapons like the Long Sword or Great Sword. After all, what could be more entertaining than playing melodies while vanquishing menacing creatures?

A Unique Controller for a Unique Weapon

Twitch streamer Dr. Doot has gained attention for his eclectic approach to gaming, particularly his innovative use of an electric saxophone as a controller. Dr. Doot previously drew significant interest for completing a no-hit run in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree—a formidable accomplishment even with standard controllers.

Now, Dr. Doot has shifted to Monster Hunter Wilds, showcasing his signature style by battling one of the game’s new monsters, Chatacabra. This amphibious foe is notorious for its rapid tongue strikes and devastating charge attacks, making it a challenging opponent.

Although hunting Chatacabra may not be as daunting as other monsters like Arkveld, it certainly presents its own challenges. Undeterred, Dr. Doot embraced the challenge, joyously playing his electric saxophone and effectively producing buffs and high-damage strikes.

In his words, “Everyone asked ‘will you use the giant saxophone weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds with saxophone controller?’ The answer is yes (obviously) but no one told me it would be this much FUN.” His enthusiasm leaves fans eager for his upcoming adventure.

With the official release of Monster Hunter Wilds slated for February 28, 2025, viewers are highly anticipating further adventures from Dr. Doot—and his creative usage of the saxophone—as he continues to explore this fantastical universe.
