On June 22, 2025, MrBeast, the world’s most prominent YouTuber, introduced an innovative AI-powered thumbnail generator as part of his content creator-supporting platform, Viewstats. However, just five days later, he removed the tool and publicly apologized to his followers after facing significant backlash.
Launch of the AI Thumbnail Tool
MrBeast’s newly launched feature aimed to assist content creators by generating eye-catching thumbnails that could increase viewer engagement. Users could input prompts and reference existing YouTube channels, enabling the AI to produce customized thumbnails. Additionally, influencers had the option to overlay their own images onto existing templates.
Immediate Controversy
Despite the promising concept, the tool ignited a wave of controversy. Priced at a monthly subscription of $80, it drew ire from fellow YouTubers. Notably, JackSepticEye expressed his outrage after discovering that MrBeast had used his logo in the promotional materials without permission, leading to a public outcry.
What the actual fuck… and he used my logo in the promotion for it too. I hate what this platform is turning into. Fuck AI.https://t.co/P2gJLrJax9

MrBeast Takes Accountability
In a subsequent video released on June 27, MrBeast addressed the uproar, stating, “I thought people were going to be pretty excited about it. I definitely missed the mark.” He acknowledged the community’s feedback and confirmed the decision to eliminate the AI thumbnail generator entirely.
Now, users visiting the Viewstats website will find resources directing them to real thumbnail artists for commissions instead of the contentious AI tool. MrBeast emphasized his commitment to supporting artists: “I wanted to go one step further to show artists that I care, ” he remarked.“Turning this negative situation into something positive is important to me. I truly value the YouTube community.”

A Lesson in Community Engagement
MrBeast concluded by expressing a strong dedication to the YouTube platform and its creators, remarking, “I guarantee I’ve probably spent more money on YouTube thumbnails than the top 100 YouTubers combined.” His swift action in response to criticism illustrates a growing trend among influencers: the importance of transparency and responsiveness in maintaining community trust.
