My Hero Academia’s Dabi may have taken the saying ‘Some men just wanna watch the world burn’ a bit too seriously. This deranged and infamous man was first introduced during the First War arc as a ruthless murderer, lacking any clear motives.
As the story continued, fans began to notice similarities between DC’s Joker and Dabi.
1. My First Thoughts on Dabi
Despite being introduced as a secondary villain, Dabi displayed a nonchalant attitude towards his powers as he burned people for his own amusement. Despite his severe burns, he remained unafraid of his abilities.
Despite lacking motivation, Dabi’s ties to the Todoroki family and his “fire”abilities made him a highly talked about character among fans.
2. The Mystery of Dabi’s Origin
My Hero Academia has revealed the truth behind Dabi’s identity, confirming our suspicions. Dabi is indeed Toya Todoroki, the result of his father’s failed project.
All For One had been saved by Dr. Garaki from certain death and turned into a monstrous being. It has also been uncovered that Dabi holds a deep hatred towards his family, which is the only reason he still remains alive.
3. Drawing the Parallels
Following the reveal of Dabi’s past, many fans couldn’t help but notice the striking similarities between the former Todoroki and the Joker. The notorious villain is known for his anarchic and deranged nature, delighting in inflicting chaos upon society and pushing “heroes”to their moral limits in the name of justice.
After finding inspiration from Stain, the Hero Killer, Dabi also joined the League of Villains. His goal is to reveal the hypocrisy of heroes and dismantle society’s belief in peace.
Additionally, it appears that both Dabi and the Joker share a similar inclination towards masochism and a disregard for human life, often committing mass murder. They also display a lack of patience for those who make remarks about their physical appearance.
Dabi, like the Joker, has a disturbingly slender appearance that hints at an unhealthy lifestyle.
Despite constantly attempting to break the heroes, both Dabi and The Joker are fixated on taunting them. However, unlike The Joker’s fixation, Dabi’s obsession with Endeavor is rooted in a personal connection.
Kohei Horikoshi’s Easter Eggs
The manner in which he freely dances after causing chaos brings to mind Joaquin Phoenix’s performance in the movie Joker.
“Dabi’s Dance,”huh. That must be a Joker reference, right? 👀 #BNHASpoilers pic.twitter.com/MJZtEjxb5l

Dabi from My Hero Academia has certainly captured the hearts of numerous fans and is Horikoshi’s brilliant tribute to the Joker.
