My Hero Academia: Possible Reason for Dabi’s Survival

With the My Hero Academia manga now in its epilogue phase, author Kohei Horikoshi has begun to tie up all the loose ends before concluding the series. As a result, fans were anticipating a slower pace in the manga, allowing for a satisfying conclusion for each character.

Despite that, it appears that the Todoroki family may not have escaped consequences, as they may still have to confront their greatest error, Dabi. While some supporters previously thought the antagonist had perished in his clash with Shoto Todoroki and the Flaming Sidekickers, My Hero Academia chapter 425 hints at the possibility of his survival.

My Hero Academia: Chapter 425 hints at Dabi’s survival

Despite Shoto Todoroki’s victory against Dabi in chapter 390 of My Hero Academia, the aftermath of the fight took a toll on Dabi’s health. His body began to freeze from the inside out due to the effects of Shoto’s Great Glacial Aegir, leading recovery robots to quickly escort him away. Fans have since speculated that Dabi may have met his demise following this encounter.

Despite reaching 35 chapters, the manga has finally teased the character’s potential return. In chapter 425 of My Hero Academia, spoilers reveal that Yuga Aoyama announces his departure from U.A. High School.

Izuku Midoriya inquired with Shoto about attending his farewell party. Shoto agreed to attend, but requested that it not be scheduled for the same day.

Despite Deku’s evident concern for Shoto, the latter reassured him that he was alright. Having done so, Shoto proceeded to walk in the opposite direction.

As the manga transitioned between panels, readers caught a glimpse of Shoto’s father, Endeavor, sitting in a wheelchair and observing a massive machine. Furthermore, the manga offered a brief teaser with the words, “The Todoroki family faces…”Although the panel did not explicitly reveal it, there is a strong possibility that it alluded to Dabi’s current state.

It is highly likely that the massive machine Endeavor was in front of was a type of ventilator, serving as a lifeline for Dabi through life support. Although the character did not ultimately succumb, it appears that he is on the brink of death.

Currently, there are two potential directions for the manga to explore. The first involves Toya Todoroki gradually healing from his condition and reconciling with his family before ultimately being incarcerated. Alternatively, if Dabi’s condition continues to deteriorate, the Todoroki family may have to come to terms with the idea of saying goodbye to their eldest son and removing him from life support.

Despite Deku’s concern about Shoto’s mental state, it is likely that Shoto was not affected by his oldest brother’s absence since they were never close. However, his family members, who all had some sort of relationship with Toya, might not be as unaffected.

Nonetheless, this potential progression suggests that the upcoming chapter of My Hero Academia’s manga could be one of the most heartfelt installments in the series.
